Do you mean an integrated unit or something you can remove?

I have a TomTom Start25 that, with a little bit of surgery to the cubby floor fits. You can see it on my build thread here ...

The cubby lid is still fully functional and this particular TomTom model has a "start up when power on" feature (not all of them do) so when I turn on the ignition, the unit powers up automatically and powers down when I turn the ingition off.

I had a navman s70 in mine which fitted without any surgery- apart from a small hole at the bottom for the wire. It just wedged in perfectly so I could remove it to update it etc

It was wired directly to the battery. Only issue was it would get hot on a long journey so the cubby lid had to stay open. Quite an old unit now but it looked neat. Pic in this thread

HR rather bthan DE, but a 7" Phablet fits fine and can run satnav and much more

Nice neat job

I take it that it's set to wake with ignition so no need for wiring in buttons etc

Yes, its wired in taking power with ignition.

Using E-robot to detect power state change. Turns all services on with power and launches satnav as standard. Power off switches off WiFi/GPS/Bluetooth, switches off screen and puts tablet into deep sleep. Get about 10days in deepsleep before battery drains.

I have a charge point for it behind the gearstick, so easy to charge with an external battery when that happens.

I fitted the tablet upside down so the power buttons can be found by removing the OEM satnav controls.

A little video

Very neat mate, I wouldn't be bothered about anything but satnav really.

Can you not hardwire the power?

Sent from the golf club...

Read a few posts with people doing that. I was nervous that the 12v converter would get too hot and the tablet itself.

I use the car each day, so little chance of the battery draining. Takes about 5seconds to power on, enable GPS, lock to satellites and load Sygic satnav. Happy with that

I also have this with an OBD2 unit. Looks great

Well it's really easy, you can take a feed from the passenger footwell cig lighter, a decent 12v adapter shouldn't get too hot either, but like you say no big deal :)

Nice install ! , without sounding retarded , do you have any signal issues with it hiding in the cubby v stuck to windscreen ?

I had a nav fixed permanently in the cubby and never had any signal issues
