Rocky4510 Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Before I spend the money I just wanna see if anyone can confirm that the bush is worn, I've been told that my knocking noice could be a couple of things but I think I'll replace the BA's first.. On the first picture you can see some fresh black rubber by the looks of it, is that a sign of a worn bush? Sent from Tapatalk Quote
Ewen@Clark Motorsport Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Its difficult to tell from that picture, in a lot of cases the bush will actually become detached from the arm Quote
MITZ@CougarStore Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Here's a failed bush that's come away from the arm - SuperPro bush then replaced by us - Quote
ZMANALEX Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Looks like the bush is fooked and the arm is resting on the lower subframe which in turn will give you a knock on rough surfaces. Alex. 1 Quote
Rocky4510 Posted June 25, 2014 Author Posted June 25, 2014 Ok thanks guys. It's not quite resting on the subframe but it's not far from it. I'll get them replaced first and hope for the best Sent from Tapatalk Quote
ZMANALEX Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 You will only get a knock from the bush if the arm is touching the sub frame. Alex. Quote
Rocky4510 Posted June 25, 2014 Author Posted June 25, 2014 You will only get a knock from the bush if the arm is touching the sub frame. Alex. Not even if the ball joint is gone? It's a very loud rattle when driving on uneven road from both sides of the front wheels. One mechanic said he thinks it's the something on the top of the shocks that's knackered? But he guessed that without looking and because he couldn't find anything obvious underneath Sent from Tapatalk Quote
ZMANALEX Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 A compression rod ball joint knock is completely different from a compression rod bushing knock. It after an informed inspection no fault is obvious then it will be the compression rod ball joint that is giving the knock. Alex. 1 Quote
Rocky4510 Posted June 26, 2014 Author Posted June 26, 2014 Anti roll bar drop links maybe ? Nope, arb bushes and both drop links I replaced first Sent from Tapatalk Quote
C-Fed Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 (edited) Thread resurrection.... These are mine. They don't look standard and both seem ok but I've got the dreaded knocking/creaking coming from the front left. Replaced the drop links but it's still there... Thinking it could be ball joint or maybe arb bushes? Edited May 20, 2016 by C-Fed Quote
RobPhoboS Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 Most likely the ball joint in the arm unfortunately. You can press out the poly bushings and reuse them on new arms though. Quote
C-Fed Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 I'm guessing since those are prolly bushes of some sort then it's 99% likely going to be the balljoint??. Will be fun trying to find a garage round Edinburgh to do all that Quote
ATTAK Z Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 H'mmm ... another B A N A N A B A R bites the dust, or two in this case Quote
C-Fed Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 (edited) Was actually quite surprised seeing that someone went to the effort of changing the bushes first for some polly efforts (if they are indeed that? )... Cars only got 55k on clock and totally standard! Edited May 20, 2016 by C-Fed Quote
