Is it possible for anybody local in the Hertfordshire area to come view it with me? It's located in Puckeridge which is about a 4 hour drive from home. I've asked all the typical questions that you would generally ask (also used the buyers guide on here). Pretty picky when it comes to wear on leather seats. We have agreed on 10,200 and a full tank of fuel. He wants 200 deposit via bank transfer which I am pretty wary about. I basically said - "I don't feel comfortable handing over that amount of money to someone who I've never met/car I've never seen. I am 100% serious about buying your car and I will arrive with the full amount in cash. If you would like to continue talking to other people about your car that is fine. If you still have your car on Saturday then let me know and I will travel on Sunday to pick it up." Seems pretty fair to me. Like you said if It's not meant to be then its not meant to be. Yeah I did think that after I wrote it to be honest. It's one of them really as the original plan was to just use my online banking with my iPad while I was there. Had my fair share of tyre kickers so would also want a 'small' deposit to show intent to buy. Always view car at sellers house and make sure address on V5 is the same - should be pretty safe that way. Leather bolsters can be repaired. Just find a decent company that can do it, some can work miracles. You need a specialist leather refurb company. Mine going in soon because also want my 'baby' perfect. This has been the first time I've tried to purchase a car which is that far away. I usually go to view the car, agree a deal then leave a deposit and pick it up another day. Be careful with faster payments, I recently had a company pay me in this way, saw the payment in my account etc. Only to discover 2 days later the payment had disappeared. Checked with the bank and it seams the payment is only secure if its still in your account at end of trading on the day. It is possible to be rescinded before this point.
