Nice build thread..

Love your car,.. Nice HR,.. great color,..awesome wheels,.. and nice mods. Love people who do mods with class, you have good taste my friend.

I've done some of the same mods,.. minus suspension/brakes.

Was curious,.. I've replaced Reverse lights with LEDS, taglights with LEDS,.. Wired in some hidden white led strips under the Boot Strut bar in hatch (wired off the single light back there) -- Though the two lights up front up top above your head don't seem to put out much light at all. Mine look blue,.. not sure if prev. owner added a different led light or not, or if this bluish color is stock,... however I was wondering what bulbs you used for your interior front lights up top to get "more" light out of them? I'd like to get some about as bright as possible.

Also, Love the brakes, .. that's a mod I'm going to do after my Tune,.. have any links, or model number(s) to the Brembo calipers and lines (and even pads) you used on your car? If not that's cool.

Well done.

My bulbs you mention are really bright, the blueish tinge indicates yours are a higher temperature LED or halogens, the stock ones are yellow halogens. I believe they were these ones on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-T10-501-W5W-Can-Bus-Canbus-Error-Free-Interior-Xenon-White-5-SMD-LED-Bulbs-/270868262198?

The Brembo callipers are stock on this model in the UK, I expect you can get them second hand somewhere but I imagine they are quite expensive. Brake lines are made by HEL Performance and the Black Diamond disks and pads came from Cougar Store on here. Not sure if these are easily available in the US?

Thanks much appreciated -- Yeah, I looked at Brake upgrade kits.. and it was in the $3,000+ range.. Which is much higher than I expected :( -- So Stock is where it's at for now on Brakes. Although, while many disagree.. I actually think the Brakes on this 2008 work pretty well ( off track anyways)..

Yeah, to be honest if you are spending that sort of money you might as well go for a big brake kit, like K Sport or Stoptech etc. Decent disks and pads + lines and fluid will make a big difference to any setup though so that's probably the best option if you want to keep the OEMs.

Looking really good, love the stance.

Nice looking zed at start but those subtle mods really enhance the overall look, especially like the z decals :)

Thank you :)

Yeah,.. Do the lines really make a difference in perf? If you aren't tracking? To be honest the way these brakes handle now.. Anything I did would be for looks.. So I may as well just look into painting and refinishing my stock calipers and be done with it :) 3 grand + is just money that could be put towards a turbo fund lol.. Then I'd need to work on Brakes haha.. but I'm not anticipating going FI anytime soon.

Curious:

I noticed from:

Is your Z decal crooked? Not knocking ya.. just wondering if my eyes are wonky.. ;)

Haha, it must be the pic, I thought the same after I'd taken that and actually measured it and it's not!

Nice!

Yeah.. my Zed came with a badge job.. I'll have to admit it was done very, very well and I'm particular about how straight something like a badge is.. It's so good I haven't bothered trying to remove it at all..

What do you guys think about the Fairlady Z rebadges to replace the 350 Z badge?

Mine has it.. and it's modified now.. and becoming moreso by the week.. and technically all our Zed's are Fairlady's.. I'm not sure how they are perceived. I've been pulled over twice in 3 months now just for having a "high profile" sports car.. (Cops make up some excuse like crime in the area, etc) -- but they always end up saying (once everything checks out and I have no record at all.. ) -- Oh.. so you have one of the Fairlady's huh? Nice! And.. they have no clue what a Fairlady is.. they just know it's a different name than usual. I'm like, well technically it is and briefly describe why.. and then say it's just a regular 350Z with the Badge..

I'd rebadge it in a heartbeat if I thought it had a bad look/ or negative perception.. I just don't see one,... it looks factory, and it's not saying it's something it's not,.. the only thing I could think of is that it may seem a bit "feminine" if anything ..

Just curious your thoughts on the Fairlady badge.. as shown here:

Will have had the car one year tomorrow! So had to get it a present, got a strange looking parcel from CS yesterday, what could it be?

Will get this on at the weekend. All breathing mods done (apart from HFC possibly) so the car is booked in to Abbey on 3rd June for an UpRev remap which is exciting. :)

Done a few little mods, rear fog light 'clear out', before:

After:

Looks much better like that. Also stuck a super bright led reverse bulb in for better visibility in the dark:

Sprayed the cubby button as the paint was coming off and looked really tatty and touched up various chips inside with a black marker pen, which works surprisingly well!

After:

Got a can of black plastidip to spray the lip under the Zunsport grill too. :)

Old pipe came off no problems, thought it might have been a nightmare with nuts breaking but all came off easily. You can see just how restrictive the stock one is, bore is all over the place and it's not very smooth:

Exhaust note has very very slightly changed, seems to be a touch more freer revving, though this could be a placebo.

Front bumper sprayed with plastidip, easy stuff to work with and done a very good job, finishes off the front nicely I think.

Think it needs some clear reflectors..

Next up is an UpRev on the 3rd

The Z went in to Abbey Motorsport again on Tuesday, this time for an UpRev! Scott very kindly picked the car up for me again and dropped it back later. Very pleased with the results and the improvement in how it drives, big thumbs up to Mark

Have only driven it for a short period of time when I got it back (saving the fun for the weekend ;)) but straight away there is a very noticeable difference in power from 2,500rpm upwards and a lot more useable power up the top of the rev range. Throttle response is great now, I have the 4 switchable response maps on it, so need to have a play with them to see what I prefer for 'normal' use.

Gains are as follows:

284.4 hub hp (converts to about 325hp at the flywheel)

248.1 hub lbft (graph shows around 10lbft gain, so I guess about 275lbft at the fly?)

Very pleased with the figures :)

Will get the graphs up shortly.

This car is bloody gorgeous.

Thanks :)

i love the mirrored cooling plate different to the usual carbon one, and it may be going back but when you had your P3 service did you do this yourself or send it off for its P3?

Did it myself. I'll do all work on it, accept from things that require a specialist, in which case it goes to Abbey Motorsport. It's such a pleasure to work on from a DIY point of view.
