I have Kumho Izen KW27 on some standard OEM 18" wheels and they have been great over the last two winters. I drove in the snow several times and was even able to get up snow covered slopes. Even saved my bacon when I ended up on a road covered in black ice although it was still a very scary experience so would try to avoid it.

Only real problem I have is finding somewhere to store the other set of wheels but apart from that well worth it as I would have probably had nasty accident by now running summer tyres over the winter.

The last snow we had caught me out big time. Took me 4 hrs to do a 4 hr journey. I had summer tyres on and drove around with my snow socks ready for when I just couldn't cope any longer.

I had to jack my car up to get the buggers on but they saved my bacon.

I will this year dress with winter tyres to cope with the ruff stuff and still take my socks for when I get really stuck.

They're great for emergencies but a nuisance to put on. Easy to get off though.

OMG! 4 hours!!? For a 4 hour journey!!?

Wait....doesn't that make you on time :p

don't bother getting winter tyres, just buy a wee small engined £500 scrapper with an mot till after the winter. works out cheaper and if you crash it in the snow/ice it doesn't matter. sell after winter and recoup most of your cash plus you'll have saved a fortune on petrol and wear and tear on the z

I always have the snows socks tucked away next to the spare. Been caught out in heavy snow showers before when none are forecast. Saved me having to park up at the side of the road.

A pain to fit though, need to jack the car up to get your hands round the top of the wheel, but again worth the effort as they got me home each time
