Hi guys...I'm not used to forums so please be patient...

Now then...I gotta 350z-gt4 2005 36k on the clock. From day 1 of having this car it has a beautiful high pitch whine when accelerating away (sounds like a supercharger)

Now some tell me this is not a characteristic of the car and it has a fault???

Can anyone shed light on this PLEASE...?

Do you happen to have your girlfriend or wife in the car with you when you accelerate and does it stop when you slow down? :teeth:

Gotta think now...? Pretty sure the whine is there while its accelerating only...only noticeable in 1-2-3 gears (from memory) not driven it for 3/4 days...

Should have mentioned before in case this makes any difference? the car has Scorpion back pipes on...As said its a lovely supercharged sound, you notice it as soon as you pull off at low speeds...

Having owned a supercharged car that would not be a sound I'd be happy about if its really that distinctive and loud. Little gearbox whine is fair enough but supercharger sound .......eek

Depends how loud it is.

Get it into a garage that you trust for an opinion or see if you have a local forum member knocking around local who can have a listen to if for you and give an opinion.

If you rev the car when stationary does it make the sound ?

...Nope not at all, the whine is a lovely overtone to the engine note (noticeable between 1-3-4 after then its all scorpion pipes and road noise???? the whine isnt that loud really, your just aware of it there. I dont think its a fault just a characteristic (but as said i'm a wheels man no mechanic!)
