Competing at the Jim Clark Rally

Hey guys,

I have been doing a power of creeping recently but haven't contributed anything in a while - life has been a bit hectic recently.

After selling the Z, my interest in rallying has grown after meeting my new neighbour. His wife usually navigates for him but he offered me the chance to navigate for him in his Mk2 Escort (2.3 JRE) at the Jim Clark Rally and needless to say I bit his hand off. So after a couple of months of pace note practising against videos etc we hit the tarmac and all i can say is it blows track days out the water - total buzz.

Unfortunately we only got footage of the Bothwell stage which was the first and most narrow of all stages so not the quickest but it gives you an idea anyway. I have posted a few pics too!

I so agree with you on that! Going around a track fast is fun, but tarmac rallying is much more challenging in my book, as the terrain and surface is changing by the split second and you've got instructions to get right!

Looks like you guys had a blast! Still absolutely astounds me that to see no flame proof/crusher type gloves on as well. Under the auspices of MotorSport NZ over here, that wouldn't happen.
