20mph skid risk / road surface dressing - how to avoid?!

Hey guys

Annoys me this - now it is 'summer' the councils are chucking stones all over the decent roads with tar to cheaply dress the tarmac.

You know, the 20mph skid risk signs, following by PING PING PING and dust everywhere

Now, I'm not a fan of a) slowing down to 20mph on a decent a road and B) covering my immaculate zed in road rash.

Is there a way to ascertain which roads are 'benefiting' from this treatment before setting off?

Tomorrow I need to head from Haywards Heath, Sussex to Winchester and was hoping for an early morning drive along the A272

Cheers

Rob

Would love it if there was an answer to this.

They decided to "treat" the only road into my girlfriends estate a couple of months ago and 3 weeks after my front end respray I now have 1 stone chip on my freshly painted bumper ggggrrrrrr.

Stone chips are am occupational hazard of driving a Zed, you can either be paranoid or just enjoy driving your Zed :drive1

Agreed but I'd rather avoid this situation anyway....

20mph ! Lol I'm lucky if I ever go above 5 on roads like that. I don't care if its 10 metres or 10 miles.

Yeah so I annoy a few people but it keeps me as chip free as I can be so I don't care

back ontopic, I don't think you can tell. There will of course be the roadworks signs for a week or so before, but unless you live locally you won't see them.

write into your local authority highway department - they will have a list of what and where
