Admiral.. Starting to feel the love here!

I'm really starting to feel the love with Admiral. I've read on here they are hard to get money out of and that everyone gets through to Indian call centers..

Just called up as my renewal date was the 5/5/13 and the money hadn't been taken out.. So I called up to check.. when calling the guy (who was Welsh and very helpful! if anyone wants his name hes called Tony May - and hes a legend!) said if it was OK we'd just run through all the details. We got to the mileage part and last year I did 8,700 miles only. I said this to Tony and he dropped the mileage on my account from 10,000 to 9,000. I thought nothing of it and at the end he told me that my insurance renewal had dropped from £711.26 to a more enjoyable £674.37!

UK call center ? check!

Friendly Staff? check!

Easy to claim off in a crash? I hope to never find out!

Just proves that being honest does randomly actually get rewarded!!

p.s for info Tony said that Admiral do not request the money to be taken from your account until 72 hours after the renewal date even though you are still covered!

With all insurance companies there are hit and miss moments. They usually over price your renewal anyway so getting a few quid off after calling is to be expected. Admiral couldn't come within £200 of our second cars insurance though, they offered £450 for renewal and dropped about £20 on the phone, but I already had quotes of just over £200 from the post office...

Yeah see I checked with the Post off and they wanted over 1k even when I called them! A lot of insurance companies run from Northern Ireland but either way I'm happy. The £40 I saved can go back in to the car and get me polish or towards some proper suspension :)

I was with Admiral but this years renewal was a lot higher than Elephant (same company). One thing I did notice was that as you get closer to the renewal date the price was going up and up. It literally went up over £100 as it got closer to the renewal date, probably because they know you need insurance so try to screw you over that little bit more!

One thing that did annoy me with Elephant, phoned up, checked details (not changed) from an online quote and it came back £60 more. Guy on the phone said they would send it off for a 'price check', which means sweet FA in reality, as he couldn't figure out why the price was different.

Have the 350Z just with 20" tyres/alloys as the only mod and a Nissan X-Trail.

Got 9 years no claims with the 350Z and got 2 years for the Nissan X-Trail.

My 350Z wasn't due for renewal for another 10 weeks but my X-Trail was due. I got Admiral for my X-Trail last year and it ended up being cheaper to go with another insurance company separate.

Anyhow, this year Admiral phoned with the usual requote and when I said I had another car but its unlikely you can do it cheaper as you couldn't last year they said they would put it through and see what it comes out as :

Last year 2011-12 as seperate vehicles and 1 year less insurance no claims I got :

X-Trail - Admiral - 1 year no claims and one named driver - £542

350Z - Elephant - 8 years no claims and no named driver, fully comp & protected £342

TOTAL 2011-12 for the two cars -> £884

This year 2012-13 as multicar policy with the 20% additional discount on both vehicles I got :

X-Trail - Admiral - 2 years no claims and one named driver - £368

350Z - Admiral - 9 years no claims and no named driver, fully comp & protected £211 (pro-rata'd for the year minus 10 weeks)

TOTAL 2012-13 for the two cars -> £579

I thought the £211 ( even pro rata'd it only ends up at about £260 give or take for the year which I was pretty impressed with )

Just to double check, once I'd done an elephant, moneysupermarket and confused search and found nothing near to this, I then phoned a telephone broker that I know that can often beat what you see on internet. Name 'Computerquote', tel: 0800 3285535 but he said to take the £579 as the best he could find was £1000 upward.

Admiral also said that even though my other insurance was 10 weeks away and therefore just shy of 10 month, they would still count it as a full year's no claims.

I'm very happy this year but a little worried that admiral don't try and really bump it up next year, once I'm in so to speak. It is less hassle doing it in one go but I'll still shop around next year for two single quotes to see if it can beat Admiral's multicar policy.

Hope this helps anyone looking for insurance. :teeth:

For information, I got this insurance sorted in March 2013.

They are pretty good.

However if you ever have an accident avoid Albany Assistance like the fricking plague!

A friend of mine had the displeasure of using these as well...+1million going on what he said!

Yep all good for me with Admiral, got the Zed & Leon FR insured with them for less than any of the specialists could do just the Zed for. Were even understanding when my missus accidentally left off 3 speeding points, thinking it was 3 years not 4 they stay.... they could have screwed us over but it was £20 extra and an admin fee which was fair enough as her mistake....

also had a good time with Admiral so far. have heard that if it comes to needing work done though that they can be very very tight and insist to the repair places that they repair rather than put on new parts ie plastic welding bumpers etc etc. would be interested to see if anyone's had that experience? so far I'm chuffed with em since they were so cheap and mirrored my ncd giving me 8 years on the zed when in fact it is my first year of ownership.
