350 Russ Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 A few weeks ago i had to change my boot struts, the only way i could get them off was to grind them off. After i was finished i washed the car down to get rid of all the metal swarf from the grinder. this morning i noticed the entire rear half of my zed had tiny spots of rust, i hadn't given it a clay or used IronX like i should have. so out came the X and this is how it looked when working. its all good now. Moral of the story, do it properly first time Quote
Arran Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 You should use ironX before claying a car anyway imo Quote
downhuman Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 I use it after claying mine and think, for wheels, nothing beats it too Quote
Chris`I Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Maybe do it before and after just to be sure? Certainly shows the kind of fallout you get around metalworking. My old Zeds used to live at Slough train station car park and after a few months the paint would feel horrible. If I did as you did with Iron X it would have likely looked the same. Made the clay bar earn its keep! Quote

Arran Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 No the spray one fella, works wonders before a clay. Certainly worth doing for a tenner Quote
WhackyWill Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Thanks Arran..Will definatly get that... Quote
Arran Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Use it before claying not after, once clayed aswell you really feel the difference in smoothness and then once polished as sealed you'll really notice the depth and gloss in the finish, certainly is that way for azure and my last car an avus blue e36 1 Quote
rtbiscuit Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Never heard of it, on a side note; did you know the after market "Z" thats stuck on after the "350" bit is on upside down Quote

samsniss350z Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 (edited) Bloody hell, looks like you've got a dead body ready to be dumped into a quarry, I'm glad you sorted it out (and the dead body) Edited March 11, 2013 by samsniss350z Quote
Stutopia Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 You work this stuff in with a microfibre, or just splash it all over like a bit of Brut? Quote
350 Russ Posted March 11, 2013 Author Posted March 11, 2013 You work this stuff in with a microfibre, or just splash it all over like a bit of Brut? It comes in a spray bottle so just squirt it on, give it a couple of minutes, I then aggravate it with a detailing brush then wash it off, make sure you use a hose or pressure washer though. I wouldn't fancy missing any and leaving it on there Quote
downhuman Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Yeah spray it on, leave for 5 minutes ish then pressure wash off. I don't even wipe it tbh Quote
spursmaddave Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Yeah spray it on, leave for 5 minutes ish then pressure wash off. I don't even wipe it tbh I use the same technique when 'entertaining' a lady 3 Quote
