I had a dodgey earth strap on a Mk2 MR2 before which caused the car not to start and a call to the AA man. When the numpty was continuosly trying to turn the car over the throttle cable started to smoke as that was apparently the next best route to ground. That might not be a problem on the Z but it's another reason to fit an earthing kit.

did you guys follow that thread for self sourcing the parts and self installation? Any uk links for parts and detailed instructions as to where bits and pieces fit too etc??

 

Just anybody who can supply wire and wing terminals?

 

For my ice stuff I used knukonceptz. Not cheap but the best wires you can buy. Might be abit OTT for just a grounding kit though. Their 0awg is huuge!

Loving that Blue grounding kit, where and how did you make it mate? also is that an aluminium intake pipe you painted azure? cause i love that!!

I made my own set for my DE and noticed a marked difference, now when I open the bonnet there's a bit more blue and 5 more bhp!!! :teeth:

4 gauge amplifier wire, hava a google or look on flea bay and some battery lead terminals from somewhere like here http://www.autoelect...product_list/32

Earthing kits = bling nothing else unless you cant be bothered to clean up the std earth points, people only have bad idle and other electrical problems when the earth points get corroded and increase resistance, which causes a lot of problems on CAN bus equipped cars, which just about covers all cars these days.

 

But give it a few more years until your nice earth kits earthing points also corrode and you back at square one. ;)

ive heard nothing but good reviews about grounding Z's, saying that the standard earth doesnt quite cut it.

 

I could be wrong but just what ive read, and mine can be quite lumpy on idle now n then.

 

 

Have you tried removing and cleaning the earth points?

Its not a case of the std earths not being up to it, there are enough and they work, if you look up galvanic corrosion you will see why a lot of car earths cause problems over time, and as I said CAN bus is very sensitive to voltage and current variations, I do wonder if its a nice little earner for main dealers.

Ask Buster about how good earthing kits are, when he recently found the cause of his problems was a bad earth, even though he has an earthing kit :)
