No luck needed just a crate of beer lol. I really want to drive it but I might wait till the end of the month so I don’t waste the money on tax.

But no more tinkering unless mechanical failure as my Mot certificate shows just how little I have driven the car over the past few years. Lucky if I am doing 2k a year! just wish I had a track car like yours Chris, no way to properly test a car with the roads in the state they are around my area. I could probably loose one of my 19” 11.5” wheels down one of the local pot holes!

I love how we spend so much modifying cars but don’t want to lose 20 odd quid on tax to drive it for a week :lol:

The way the roads are I grudge paying road tax lol. Gave her a wash which she was badly needing from all the fibreglass dust. Took some photos but it’s not the background or scenery that Will set the car off so I will have to wait before I start pic whoring everywhere.

I have been working on both cars and taking photos. . . . just forgetting to upload or remember what I have done.

The rear arches have been cut for a second time... but I took too much off the bottom as i cut along the rivet join. So big spaces to learn how to fill with weld.. took some time.

Now the other will be 10x easier as I wont cut the bottom layer, just need to drill out the rivets and cut the top layer and bash it up some more, lack of suspension travel was really annoying and dangerous as fast dips in the road would cause minor tyre rubbing/noise.

Most of my time has been spent on the other car.

I did make a boost leak tester then realized the vortech bypass valve is always open DOH! so need to blank that off and try again somehow, but I will wait till I switch to the cosworth manifold, just waiting on a new lower intake gasket to arrive before fitting.

nice work there,I have as well just finished cutting for the second time my rear inner arches to get a better stance :teeth:

wish I would have done it right the first time but probably was too scared to cut more then I should.

Yeah I think the first time you cut up a car you are too scared and end up causing yourself more issues, better to just say f it! What do I want and let’s do that! 

I live in rural Scotland so stance = broken car and 10mph everywhere lol. I prefer fast and functional but without being a 4x4

I knew my bodykit was rare but I have just heard Stardast have basically folded and their main distributor has cut ties with them. I was always worried about getting another set if someone hit my car but now I would be truly screwed.

Been searching YouTube for videos in making moulds for fenders but none of them show if they harm the original item. 

Anyone had any dealings with making moulds and what to use to protect the original item under the copy/mould?

i don’t want to take them to knight racer or gramms as they would flood the market with the copy’s.

So after my fuel starvation issue I thought I better get round to fitting my gauge and pillar pod I've had for years.

Left the car sitting for days so not much fuel came out.

 

The pillar pods didn't want to accept my gauge so needed a bit of sanding...

Not hooked up my oil sandwich adapter yet so its just an engine temp sensor for now lol.

Stupidly I hooked the 12v acc cable up to the rear fog light..... so the gauge only works when the lighting circuit is powered on lol.. need to find an easily accessible 12V accessories cable somewhere in the drivers footwell.

Took her for a spin and the gauge works and so does she, max fuel pressure was 55 and lowest 38, just need to read the instructions to change some of the neat functions on the gauge and change the colour. 

Top Pod will probably be filled with a clock for now as I need another lambda 02 sensor for the other bank of the engine and this car is not on the top of the pile for working on.

So she has dropped down to 5 cylinders, hopefully just needs new spark plugs, since she is off the road I figured I might as well install the cosworth plenum.

Lucky I had this left over from the motordyne plenum spacer as it was needed to connect the Throttle body heater pipes together that won't be used.

Too many extra ports on the cosworth plenum, sadly not all the brass bungs I bought fitted so ended up going getto until I can get the right one.

Installed but I could only see the kinetics cork gaskets for the throttle body @ torqen and not sure if it will cope with boost =( 

Used OEM nissan for the bottom intake runner gasket.

Sadly I am going to have to wait until mid week for the spark plugs, but there is a lot more room to remove the old ones with this new plenum which is handy.

The spark plugs in at the moment are old platinum so I might be able to give them a clean up with some sand paper to get me by.

Only a tiny bit of oil in tube 6 which I thought would have tones and be the problem. So I won't be changing the seals yet (kit has been in the loft for years like everything else).

Some part of me has just thought I have to soak the lower plenum(intake runner) gasket in oil? Is that why there was oil left there when I removed it?

Not sure but its popped into my head that I had done that before??? Should I??

Took the diffuser off as it was hitting the exhaust and thought it might wear through the metal, also thought it was rattling but it was the heat shield that just needed ripped off (thought i had done that long ago).

Decided to do the bumper tuck and now think I prefer it to the shi#'* gramms diffuser that was so hacked up anyway wasn't doing much except adding weight.

So after the thread about whiteline diff bushes I finally decided I better swap them round and sort the lock up on the KAAZ diff to make it more streetable.

quite a lot of stuff on the magnetic sump plug but its very fine paste and not big chunks so hopefully its ok.

need some exhaust gaskets and other bits so this might take a few days now and wont be rushed as I know the heads for the kaaz hex bolts are rounded and may need drilled out, which I am not looking forward to.

bungees probably need to be tighter for the driveshafts but not hanging at too much of an angle. Stupidly doing this with the wheels on the floor and had to roll the car forward to get to the top bolts on the driveshafts.

The prop shaft is stuck on so hopefully some strong wd40 will loosen the rust or whatever is holding it on the diff flange, tried a rubber mallet but not budging.

Gave myself a scare thinking the runout was wayyyyyy off on the diff..... turns out you shouldn't check it on the part of the ring gear where they have I.D. markings lol.

0.03mm so well within spec just need to use some paint pen for checking the mesh of the gear and then back plate on.

Good work chap. I've recently built a quaife diff. 

Got lucky as the existing bearing shims swopped from left to right brought the backlash within tolerance.

I didn't touch the bearings or shims as they were good the first time I done them a few thousand miles ago so hoped it would all go back together nicely.

 

Sadly my paint pen didn't show up as good as last time (used yellow before and pink this time) I think there is too much oil on the gears as its not showing up very well but it is transferring a little.

 

Just said F it and blue rtv gasketed her back up, need to wait till tomorrow to fill her up a wee bit and check it doesn't leak out the flanges, it should be fine as i cleaned the seals and used silicone grease on them again which worked before.
