17's or 18's for track use?

Hi,

As title says

I have a set of 17s and a set of 18s - both are lightweight wheels and ATM I'm using the 17s for track and 18s for daily use. As well as the standard 17s in the garage.

17 - oz race superleggera

18 - team dynamic pro race 1

However, Ive seen some 19" bbs lm that I want, and having 3/4 sets of wheels is a bit too much....

So I'll have to sell either the 17s or 18s.

Question is,

What's better for track use 17s or 18s? I was under the impression you were to go smallest diameter and widest width?

I was using the 17s due to cost to replace tyres!

Cheers guys.

you want the lowest unsprung mass that clears the brakes.

get a set of scales out and go weight those wheels then come back and ask us.

general consensus on here is 18"s for go; 19"s for show. but they have to be leightweight to really make a difference, and even then i don;t thnik most on here would notice the differewnce between the 2.

So do 17 inch wheels not fit over the brembos?

Yes they do fit.

Are you sure? Okay, I've never tried it myself, but everything I've read on here over the years said that they don't fit. Happy to be proved wrong though, would really open the market up if that were the case. :)
