Geordielad87 Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Just spotted a Azure blue for £5500. Full Nissan service history, 2004 Reg, remapped to 320bhp, UK model so all the nice features but has 120,000 on clock!! Is this too much in everyone opinion? Shall I ask if its had new clutch etc? I only do about 3000 miles a year if that so I wouldn't add much on but just worried incase anything went wrong and re-sale value. Thanks in advance Mick Quote
Geordielad87 Posted May 11, 2012 Author Posted May 11, 2012 That's what I thought when I bought my civic with 117,000 on and full Honda service but can't seem to sell it Quote
andyh83 Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 I hope its had more than just a remap to reach 320Bhp... Quote
manphibian Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 You will struggle to sell it on. No doubt about that. With the way fuel is going these will get harder and harder to sell, and i wouldn't even consider one with high miles... Quote
Geordielad87 Posted May 11, 2012 Author Posted May 11, 2012 I hope its had more than just a remap to reach 320Bhp... Haha must be a SPECIAL Remap that nobody knows about lol Quote

Haha must be a SPECIAL Remap that nobody knows about lol Seem to be a lot of those around lately viewtopic.php?f=41&t=61615 As above really; personally I'd be more concerned about the optimistic power figures than the mileage, especially with that price for a UK car. Sam Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 I would look for 70-80k range in that budget... as u rightly said you will struggle to sell it... Quote
marzman Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 You should be able to find something with half the miles of that for a similar price... Quote
Geordielad87 Posted May 12, 2012 Author Posted May 12, 2012 The thing is I've got my car to part ex as can't seem to sell it at moment so need a dealer really or someone willing to swap My favourite colour is azure blue and would prefer the UK model so I'm torn on what to do? Go for it? Quote
spursmaddave Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 You could get a newer Zed with half the mileage that was a complete dog  I would be more concerned about the slightly optimistic remap claims My Zed is on 103,000 miles and i have had 30k+ trouble free miles from it and still going strong :woohoo: Quote
Ricey Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 You could get a newer Zed with half the mileage that was a complete dog  Indeed my esteemed colleague. In fact this car might have had a shitload of work done that a 60k car its getting ready for needing. You just don't know until you see the history. Quote
Geordielad87 Posted May 12, 2012 Author Posted May 12, 2012 Yeah here's the link bud. http://m.gumtree.com/fast-and-furious-2 ... rted=false Quote
4RE Leather Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Yeah here's the link bud. http://m.gumtree.com/fast-and-furious-2 ... rted=false If it had a tunes exhaust. de-cats pelham chamber and up-rev would that get it up to 320bhp? I do not know as even with my limited knowledge I cant see it much past the 286bhp mark? Some time sellers try to play things up to help the sale. At the end of the day if you like it then it doesn't matter what we think. Go get it:) Quote

From what I gather that would bring it to about 295 if youre lucky - Just going from other results ive seen on here though, so could easily be wrong. Its not getting 320 on a pre facelift with just those mods done though! Quote
Geordielad87 Posted May 12, 2012 Author Posted May 12, 2012 To be fair I'm not really bothered about the bhp on it I've had my 350bhp cars cars and not to fussed about the figures I just want a nice 350 that isn't gonna give me hassle Quote
Squee Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Personally I'd avoid any advert that refers to the 'Fast and the Furious' franchise of films. My money's on the seller being a chump from that ad. S. Quote

S. And anyone that says fully loaded. Sounds like Essex pikeys Find someone that has a decent car and find out where they got it. there are lists of where to go and what not to do. Its all in the terminology. Quote
Geordielad87 Posted May 12, 2012 Author Posted May 12, 2012 Yeah the "fast and the furious" part put me off a bigot like but it's a garage and are just looking for a sale I suppose. I'm still I Interested in it but unsure on what to do. They want my car plus cash Quote
l-jack Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Also not to put you off as it's your choice but I would be shocked to see a car of that age with that mileage on any main dealer forecourt. I worked for a number of dealer franchises and never saw a car on the sales pitch at 100k. The advert is most definitely full of false claims, but could still be a reasonable car. One thing for me when buying from a garage, if is taxed and has slight signs of use the likelihood is one of the salesman is thrashing it around as a demonstrator. Quote
Geordielad87 Posted May 13, 2012 Author Posted May 13, 2012 Thanks for all the responses. I've asked what work has been done and he says the clutch and timing belt and insists its absolutely immaculate Quote

This x 1000000000 Gives you a clue about the seller, who is probably all talk and hasn't looked after the car at all I'd stay clear Quote
Bry Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Thanks for all the responses. I've asked what work has been done and he says the clutch and timing belt and insists its absolutely immaculate Doubt the timing belts been changed as these cars have a Timing chain not belt Quote
