Niko Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Hi all. I've got Eibach spacers on, and my problem is I put them on about 4 month ago and now I need to take them off to change my discs and pads on the front. But I think I've put them on to tight and now the nuts have rounded off . Dose anyone have an idea how to get them off? Cheers Quote
JetSet Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Yeah, you'll need an impact driver. One of mine got stuck despite the fact it was torqued on correctly, you'll also need a new set of nuts, the genuine ones cost a small fortune. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impact_driver Pete Quote
liam42whu Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Or the less right way but as effective is to bang a slightly smaller socket on there...... Make sure it a old socket that you wont use again. Liam Quote
ZMANALEX Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 New Genuine Eibach nuts in stock if required. Alex Quote
ChrisS Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Something like this is required. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Irwin-Bolt-Grip ... 688&sr=1-5 I have not got any idea which are the best. I'd just say don't buy Silverline, there stuff is hit and miss and some stuff is cr*p. Quote
Beau Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 The wheel nuts tend to be made from light weight alloy which means they will round off easily. You should be able to use a slightly smaller socket as someone has mentioned, whack it in with a hammer and then undo it. I did this for the original nissan security nuts as I lost the Key. It worked really easy. Quote
Niko Posted April 19, 2012 Author Posted April 19, 2012 Thanks guys, I've already got the nuts, it's at the garage at the moment on a ramp till I get my wheels back tomorrow from powder coating, the guy at the garage had a little go an even he said they mite not come off. Quote
Keyser Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 I use a chisel and a hammer if you can get to a corner of the nut. Try a 6 sided socket of the correct size before you use a smaller socket multi point sockets especially cheap ones can round alloy nuts. Quote
Niko Posted April 19, 2012 Author Posted April 19, 2012 I don't want to damage the hub, so a chisel and hammer mite have to be a last resort Quote
Dicky Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 What about using a bit of heat to ease it before commiting to the undersize socket idea. Quote
