My first 350z

Top Secret

Recommended Posts

Well gents - this is my first post as I am after a 350z and I couldnt think of a better place to find out a bit of information and purchase a car from.

I'm not going to lie I wanted a skyline but the insurance is ridiculous due to my age (23) sock thought I'd treat myself to a Zed instead.

I havent got a massive budget 4-6k.

I would like:

Gt pack

FSH - had its major service!

T/T is good

Under 80k mileage

Colour - what you got? Black is what I'm after.

Mods are fine - encouraged even :)

:welcome: to the forum - afraid though you're possibly not being realsitic with your budget in relation to what you're looking for.

You'll find a basic spec import with under 80k on the clock in that price range but not GT spec and certainly not TT :)

I think he means Tax and Test, not Twin Turbo ;)

But as you say Vik....£4-6k aint gonna get you what you want.

You might get a Cat-D at that spec for maybe around £6500.

Id also check out the insurance, you may be surprised at how much it will cost. When I got some quotes last it was cheaper for me to insure a nearly new 40grand skyline GTR than it was to insure a 4 year old 350z.

My insurance was £800 when i was 21 with 2 year ncb and 4 years driving.

4.2k for a skyline, £950 for my Zr vvc yet it's only £900 for a RX7, daft isn't it.

Still won't find a GT spec with under 80k on the clock for under 6k

Of course there are zeds out there in that price range

Cheapest GT spec that I'm aware of anywhere near your mileage requirement http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3757642.htm

Next cheapest http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nissan-350Z-3-5-V6-GT-Pack-/270953985635?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item3f161db663

theres no rush i can wait for the right one, cars like skylines, rx7s and zeds are only going to drop faster as petrol goes up haha - lucky for us who live close to work.

I think the prices of the zeds have stabilised now and all the large dropping is done.

Enthusiasts are holding on to them longer also.

What i would say, with no disrespect, have you researched the full running costs of these? You're budget seems tight to purchase one, just make sure you can afford to fix it in the event a clutch goes etc as that will be well in the region of 1k. I would rather pay an extra 1k for a lower mileage car which has been looked after and already had a decent clutch put in...

A high mileage car may require some work which may not be apparent at the time of purchase. We have had plenty of blown engines in the last while with older cars....

Tread cautiously so as not to get a dog.

Yup, in my experience, all cars end up costing pretty much the same.

You either spend the proper going rate, and have no hassle, or get a cheaper one, then spend the same amount you saved, getting it up to spec.

Good luck though, there are the odd bargains about if someone is desperate to sell :)

Good luck in finding your ideal car mate im in same boots as you (currently looking for a nice Z) I don't want to go over £6000 because I only drive on a weekend as have van for work so think its silly paying over £150 out a month when I only gets driven 8 times in month if that makes sense :)

Yeah I'm aware of The costs of running a decent car as I had a 330 m sport (2005) before I got my current car -,Downsized to free up cash for a property. My budget is what cash I can get my hands on readily and wouldn't leave me payi g it off anywhere, could wait and get more but the way cars depreciate I don't really want too.
