djrm Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Hi guys! Got in the car last night and drove home from a gig and noticed that the car was sounding a bit louder than usual... A lot louder in fact, pulled over and revved it a bit and it's really loud and crackles on lift-off.... It sounds like I have had some silly chav exhaust fitted! lol... I know it's probably a hole due to rust and I havn't had a chance to look properly yet but is there anything suspect I should look for? Thanks! Ryan Quote
Tarmac@TarmacSportz Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Yup - a whole in the exhaust Jack it up give it a good going over, check all the welds and joints etc and im sure you will find something. After that get rid of it and buy a new shiney Nismo one off me Quote
spursmaddave Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 There is a very common bit I believe it is where the mid pipe meets the backbox that probably needs welding Or good excuse for an upgrade Quote
ChrisS Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Usualy the joint between the mid pipe and back box. Very common. Quote
martinmac Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 You can normally get it welded pretty cheap but its a good excuse to upgrade. Quote
spursmaddave Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 There is a definite moderator echo in here.... Quote
jerry3167 Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 its time for the 5ZIGEN PRO-RACER methinks Quote
djrm Posted January 20, 2011 Author Posted January 20, 2011 Haha I love how everyone has the same mind-set as me... Could be fixed for cheap but nooooo let's upgrade it! I'm not sure I want to be spending any money on the car that I don't have to at the moment... I am trying very hard to save money! I will take it down to my exhaust place and get them to check it over Thanks! Quote
M13KYF Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 you should be able to get it welded for around £60 Quote
maxi-glasgow Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Whatever you do, do not buy a back box from Nissan. Will be miles cheaper buying a K2 or similar. Quote
jerry3167 Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Or get a 2nd hand stock box from R35LEE or ZMANALEX Quote
dyla350z Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Got 2nd hand y & uk backbox,pick up only £40 Quote
narcotix Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Or alternatively you could go out and buy yourself a Hoody and Cap and embrace the change ... Quote
glrnet Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Does it sound like an elephant farting through a tuba!!?? Quote
bodyboarder Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Read the title and thought you must have had a k1 fitted Quote
jerry3167 Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Or alternatively you could go out and buy yourself a Hoody and Cap and embrace the change ... ROFLCOPTER Quote
Will370z Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Whatever you do, do not buy a back box from Nissan. Will be miles cheaper buying a K2 or similar. Totally agree, I had exactly the same problem when my exhaust went at the joint to the back box. Went to Nissan and they wanted nearly 600 to install a new back box. Decided to dig a little deeper to upgrade to a proper exhaust. After going to meet zugara, spursmaddave, glrnet and doogyrev to see the different exhaust I joined them with a miltek and never looked back. Take it as a positive and upgrade Quote
Chris`I Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Read the title and thought you must have had a k1 fitted Oooh thats a cheap shot ... no wait .... thats a cheap exhaust I'd use it as an excuse to get a new decent exhaust Quote
Blacky Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Are you sure some "Do as you likie" hasnt nicked your cat's. Very common problem. Joking aside afriend of mine just found out that whilst parked in Tesco, someone cut what they obviously thought was the cat off. They are gonna feel a bit dumb when they reakise it was an intermediate silencer. D***heads. Quote
spursmaddave Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Read the title and thought you must have had a k1 fitted This is very true, you could have paid good money for your car to sound loud and chavvy Quote
