Beavis Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 The old Group B rally cars were until banned. Saw these in action many years ago on the RAC rally. Quote
Toon Chris Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Jesus I just used up my monthly internet allowance on that page! Quote
clarkie34 Posted October 4, 2010 Author Posted October 4, 2010 On of the local performance car specialists had 1.We used to drive up on Sundays to have a look, they wanted 80k for it in 89. Quote
Ebized Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Had to laugh seeing Clarkson going off road on the video. Mega machine though. Quote
JetSet Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 On of the local performance car specialists had 1.We used to drive up on Sundays to have a look, they wanted 80k for it in 89. They had one on display at Fords M53 Showroom in Ellesmere Port in 1989. I think it was one of Ford's works rally cars, it wasn't for sale but 80k sounds about right. It's the only one I've ever seen, looking at those pics of it, those tyres look very interesting, at first glance they look to be worn out on the edges, but I think that it's just an unusual tread pattern, not sure what the police would make of it though . Pete So much for the recession then - guide price now (taken from the link) : This car is trully something special, to think that back in the 80's this is what a manufacturer could produce, a proper space framed car with twin shock set up, adjustable 2/4WD with the push of a lever, Intercooler thicker than anything i have ever seen mounted at the top of the car to give full on effective cooling for the turbo, that to be fare was similar in size to wales. Absolutly stunning and left me a bit speachless in these days as if felt like a true masterpiece preserved perfectly for its, !!!!NEW!!!! owner as the car is going up for sale. Any seriously interested buyers in this car please send me your details via PM and i will forward to the owner. Value put on this car is £150,000ono Trust me you won't find a more special example, Quote
M13KYF Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 always preferred the 6R4 in the latter days of group B Quote
Lottee Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 There was one at a Ford day at Croft a couple of months ago. The owner took so much pride in telling us how it was completely stock. It looked awesome but I couldnt resist taking that kinda thing on the road every once in a while, I dunno how these people keep them off the road? Quote
