Wanting to get the car flashed soon. Its an 03 JDM and will have the usual plethora of mods, thermal plenum spacer, pop charger, K1. I know i won't get much more tq or hp but I'm looking to get what i can and particularly i'm after WOT through the gears.

Should i do cats first? Not sure how much extra gains i would get for my bucks, also don't want things much loader than the K1 is already

So I know about Abbey and just read about somebody going to RSTuning. Who else is in the game? I'm based in Staffordshire and obviously don't want overlook a more local company if there is one.

Thanks

There is a skyline specialist near me in Shirley, Solihull - West Midlands. It's called Weston Performance. I have been down there to look round their facilities, it looks very good. I am not sure on their experience or knowledge of the 350 - neither am I aware of their technical ability to re-map the ecu's like maybe RS or Abbey.

Even though this garage is only 4 miles from my place I would still be interested to drive to Abbey just from the feedback of this site.

there are only 2 companies in the UK with the ability to reflash the 350z ecu

I recently used RS Tuning and it was a good experience. My car already has many of the bolt-on mods that you talk about (see my sig) and so I wasn't expecting a huge gain, and indeed I only went from 281 to 293 bhp. The biggest difference is how smooth the car is now, and the exhaust note also seems smoother, fewer transitions in tone through the rev range. Torque has been improved and nicely smoothed out and a lean running problem was solved. The car is so much nicer to drive and very punchy. I worked out that if I saved 1mpg over the next 4-6 months the tune pays for itself - result!

Anyway, RS Tuning really do know their stuff. Without boring you with the little details they capably smoothed out all of the rough edges and the car is definitely much better for it. It is a reasonably quick process ( a few hours) and you can sit and read mags and drink tea whilst they do it, or watch the process if you can bear the horror of hearing your car being revved up to 6.5-7K revs, which in a small space is very loud and worrying!

They get a double thumbs-up recommendation from me :thumbs:

We went here for a dyno meet last year and they are very good but they can't reflash the standard ECU. If you were running a piggy back then I am sure they would be more than a good place to go as they were in the process of building a TT Zed when we were there.

As Rich has said the only 2 (to my knowledge) tried and tested are Abbey and RS. I am booked in with Abbey in June.

Looks like it's Abbey for me then. Thanks for providing the finer detail regarding Weston Performance. I'd like to get a re-map done at Abbey before Wales although not booked in could potentially be an issue.

NOS is being delivered today along with new plenum! Guess what I'm doing this weekend under the gazebo!! (cos it will rain - won't it!!)

Good luck with Abbey, I know Mark is really busy at the moment though. Hope you get sorted before Wales.

Hi all,

i poped into a companie called Litchfield tuning yesterday which is just around the corner to me, he refered Abbey saying exactly what you guys have said that there s only two in the country,

i asked him about performance upgrades and he said the best thing to do is get a new exhaust and a remap and that would be the best for ur buck, he said all the small changes you do with intakes and spacers dont really change the performance that much, he said an induction would change the BHP but its an exspensive upgrade!,

on that one what is the best exhaust to get?

hope all can help!

i thought that there was only 2 places who actually had the uprev gear to do it.

hmm well there might be people that aren't authorised dealers that use the uprev software to uprev ECU's for the 350Z, could even be as bad as they have been falling of a lorry... :disguise:

well if you really cant make the trip to RS/ Abbey then you could still get map done .... uprev sell for about £450-500 dependong on pastega tax etc (its $700) a full tunable licence that comes with the cables and software to tune 1 car. so you get it form them with some base maps adn will email you a couple more base don data logging for free.

not as good value and not quite sucha good tune but will get you there , pretty common state side from what ive read.

Thanks for all the input, i'm going to book in with Abbey or RS - best to leave this to the experts it think :)

Might look at cats first though if they're recommended. I think Chilli Red just put a group buy on these :)
