Demolition49 Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 I was looking around on reviews of the Z particularly the 2006 and came across this review: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/int ... ndex1.html It mentions Universal standards include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, tilt/telescoping column with pivoting main-instrument cluster, power windows/locks/mirrors, keyless remote entry, dual 12V powerpoints, and 240Z-style ancillary gauges in the center of the dash for the trip computer/tire-pressure monitor/oil pressure/voltmeter I highlight the fact it says key-less remote entry! Is this true and if so what do they pre 06z key fobs look like? Pics? Do they look like this? http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/veh ... ob-480.jpg Or this? http://www.nissantt.com/M_pathfinder/sa ... yFob_t.gif Im confused. Cheers. Quote
Ebized Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Keyless entry simply means you unlock with the fob but you need the key in the ignition to start the car etc and the 350's have keys as in your 2nd pic. The 370's also have keyless ignition (a button to start etc) and use a fob similar to your first pic. But each have the ability to be accessed by the key (and in the case of the 370 to also be stated with the key that slides into the fob). One of the gripes with the 350's that Nissan didn't even provide a 'flip' key design Quote
Demolition49 Posted February 2, 2010 Author Posted February 2, 2010 That is a shame, the 350z was a special car the time it was released, they should atleast have a special key! What a shame o well still a brill car. Although test driving a 370z really makes me want one, probs a bad idea! Quote
rtbiscuit Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 its such a special car for nissan they gave it the key from a micra Quote
3FIDDYZ Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 There is a keyless entry system in the US (think that is a US spec sheet your looking at.) Us have And then a seperate key... weird! They do have a "true" keyless entry system in the states, shame you still have to start the car with a key!! Quote
Demolition49 Posted February 2, 2010 Author Posted February 2, 2010 That just makes me even more upset! Not fair that US gets key-less, interesting, are you sure that bottom pic is genuine, looks really odd. Mind you, it would take alot more than a key fob to put me off buying a 350z! My heart is set on one and i will not settle for anything less! My insurance premium is probably a record high for this forum, but you know what Its just one of those things, i seen the amount of money people spend on modding in excess of 20k even 30k so as said in the 100k miles thread! 350z experience, priceless. Moving on im wondering if the viper remote start for iphone is available for 350z! Its bloody awesome! Specially in this weather, just turn your baby on from your window when you wake up and then its warmed up, engine is ready to go and less wear and tear overall, and nice warm de-frosted car when you get in! Here is a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AG_zTIRR3cI I think it comes with a separate key-less entry fob as well. SWEET! Anybody done this or something similar? Quote
rich5259 Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I wouldn't want my zed to be outside with the engine running and not be there to make sure it doesn't get nicked Quote
Demolition49 Posted February 3, 2010 Author Posted February 3, 2010 Lol no dude, when you get remote start it only starts the engine, nobody can drive without the key actually in the ignition, its pretty nifty and besides your doors will still be locked. Quote
Trev-the-Rev Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I was looking around on reviews of the Z particularly the 2006 and came across this review: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/int ... ndex1.html It mentions Universal standards include tilt/telescoping column with pivoting main-instrument cluster, . The steering column is not telescopic, only adjustable for tilt. Quote
Gervais Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 One of the gripes with the 350's that Nissan didn't even provide a 'flip' key design I was shocked when i first saw a 350z key! I thought they would have done a flip one or something nicer looking Quote
Number86 Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 When I got my Z key. I thought "Yeah, this sh1t will look good in the fruit bowl at the party!" Quote

rtbiscuit Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 the key issue should be remedied soon, apparently carbon coops is working on a carbon flip key for the zed Quote
Gervais Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 the key issue should be remedied soon, apparently carbon coops is working on a carbon flip key for the zed I'd be all over that like cheese on toast if the price is right! Definate gap in the market for them. Quote
