Hi Guys, the wife never learned to drive (didn't take test at least) and i'm obviously not teaching her in the 350z ..

Wondered if you had any recommendations for £1-2.5k cars to kick off in.. initial thoughts .. Fiat Seicento Arbarth ;-)

Would be handy to be luggable to make up for my roadster, but ideally small / capable of motorway trips occasionally!

I've got to spend both our allowances on my 350z so fair's fair..

As much as I dont like them an old VW Polo - they go on for ever - brakes are not the best but best compromise really!

But you HAVE to stay with Jap stuff - old Toyota Corolla or Mazda 323, rock solid go on for ever and cheap to run !

I really couldn't say a bad word about my ford focus company car. Does exactly what it says on the tin. Never had a problem with it for 60,000 miles and the 1.4 is very good on the fuel

At that money you can get some pretty good cars. Personally I'd go with something like a focus. There are loads of cool little cars. Does a Yaris come into that price range?

i had a siesta as a courtesy car, it was god aweful ,hated it. but did test drive a focus years ago and it was a good car.

Thanks all, with the roadster, tempting to get soemthing with 4 seats a felxible boot.. the Honda Jazz fits the bill there.. she's also looking at Fiat Panda :scare: Citroen C3, and Yaris, all top end of budget though!

Stay in the Nissan family - Micra

..............who said that

But from someone I know well who trades in cars up to £2k, they always sell well .

You can pick up a tidy ford focus for that money. Big boot and pretty reliable, get a small petrol engine and it'll be economical, cheap to insure and its easy to drive. :)

+1, or a Fiesta. :)
