martinmac Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 Hi and welcome to the forum. The clicky rear axle thing is pretty easy to detect so you should be able to pick up on it. There is much discussion aboiut the fix at the moment. Bit of reading for you What year and spec are you buying. Post up a link to the add and we will give it a once over Quote
Ian Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 I came from a turbo car. It takes a while to get used to the lack of boost but the power delivery is really smooth. I still miss a turbod car even after 18months in a Z Quote
Stew Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 That looks like Dannys Zed in your avatar. Easy solution, FI the Zed! Quote
Sarnie Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 Is that Limiters car in the avatar? Looks like it but I could of sworn is was a uk car................. Quote
Madmarky Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 to the forums, the avatar pic does look familiar, is it the one you bought? Quote
Stew Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 The one in the avatr does look like one of our members cars. Well Vieldside body and volks wheels! That'll be it getting there! Quote
mattjonescardiff Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Hi. Welcome to the forum. I'm new too! Quote
bronzee Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Welcome to the forum. As Stew's mentioned, looks like FI will be in your future. Quote
GIXXERUK Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 the zed can be deceiving, its too smooth for its own good and can feel slower than it really is Quote
Zummertor Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Welcome, lots written on clicky axle, best way to tell is windows down have a wall or similar to sides if possible and pull away slowly keeping revs down then slow down again and pull away again much as you would in a multi-story car park. If you have clicky then the sounds are a very metallic clink, I've tried recording them but it is hard to isolate from the exhaust sound on a recording, to start with the noise is a bit more of several little crackles (not unlike a breakfast cereal in rhythm) but say 4 or six then as it develops over time it becomes a much more distinct clink, say one or two then nothing which is why you need to do the slowing and pulling away to hear it. If you are only used to Turbo'd cars you'll find the zed deceptive as it can just pile on the speed (right foot dependent), if you really want the shove in the back then FI only thing that does that, more than a few done it but read up on it before you take the plunge. Enjoy forum and car. Quote
