Paint mark on door?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Does anyone know what caused this mark on the door please? It doesn't seem to move when I press on it and it feels solid, I can't work out at all what it could be but someone else may recognise it.

Thank you ☺️

Thats a rust bubble unfortunately. Could possibly be a pin prick hole that moisture has gotten under but will need rubbing back, treating and repainting

Ahh that's a pain! But good to know thank you, do you know the rough cost of something like that please? And is it likely to get worse? Just wondering if it's something that needs immediate treatment or if it can wait a bit as it is barely noticeable

Unfortunately yes it will slowly get worse

As said it will get worse with time, how much time and how worse is entirely up to you. I'd say get it sorted with the next 6+ months. Unknown on the price as every bodyshop is different but I would say pay cheap pay twice

Brilliant stuff thank you, I'll look to get it done within the next couple of months just to be safe. In regards to stone chips I suppose the same thing is possible as well? They're quite hard to avoid given motorway driving but ideally I don't want them all rusting over time 😬

How did this end up? What did it cost you to repair?

I've spotted a finger nail size bubble appearing on my door, similar area.  The dealer warranty manager was very friendly and sent photo to Nissan UK but they've said no, there is no proof its corroded from behind rather then being a pin hole damage, and paint warranty was only 3 years from new.  Took it to 2 local bodyshops, both want to dig out any corrosion, treat, and respray door and feather into wings (do a proper repair) but have priced it at £3,000 and £2,200 respectively.  Seems mighty expensive.  I figure I'll use some rust convertor for now and touch up bottle, until I figure out where I'm going with the project.

A new door from Nissan will cost in the region of £1200. Maybe it will be a more economical repair that way?

With a repair, there's always the chance that the problem will return.
