Soon to be Z owner. Jdm import?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I'm soon to be a 350z owner with a 5-6k budget.

I've got my eye on a couple in my area, been to view a few and two stand out:

2006 manual rev up gt, tidy body work, well maintained, wheels need a refurb and exhaust will need replacing within 12 months. 86k on the clock. Asking price £6000.

Or

2005 35th anniversary jdm manual import,

Rev up engine with the 7k rpm, anniversary wheels, mats, badges etc etc. Again, full service history, well maintained, imported at 20km and now on 60km.

Wheels will also need refurb and a small crack in the bumper, but other than that it's very tidy.

Asking price £5000.

Insurance for myself at 29 is coming in at £180 for the 2006 gt and £270 for the import, so no worries there. I'm assuming tax on the import will be the lower tax band being a 2005 model, whereas the gt is in the higher bracket.

Just wanted to know your thoughts on both options. Am I going to regret going for the cheaper jdm down the line? Is there anything I should know going forward or does the import sound like a cracking deal for essentially a very similarly specd car? (the anniversary is japan's equivalent of the gt4 from what I can see online)

Would appreciate any thoughts!

Cheers

Both look very tempting.

Personally I think the Aero kit on the import is a bonus.

Really raises the zeds presence.

Being black, the world's your oyster for future wheel choices, caliper paint changes etc.

That's assuming of course that mechanically there's nothing between the 2.

Welcome!

Out of the two I would personally go for the Import one.

Had a look online.. Not sure if this is something to consider too..

U wot m8 ?!

You must live in the middle of nowhere?!

In 2018 when I first bought mine (aged 30) totally stock, cheapest ins. I found was £705 and I live in east anglia.

Now aged 33 with £16k agreed value due to restoration etc, 6 SP30 points and paying about the same still.
