Declangibbs Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 Hi I have a strange problem with my 350z. basically every now and again I will get in the car, turn the key to position 2 and everything lights up and all electrics work but then the car won't start. it won't even crank over or any noise just nothing. any ideas? Thanks Quote
SHEZZA Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 Daft question I know ! you are pushing the clutch down ? Quote
PPod Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 whats your power voltage at on your dials ? If its below 10v it won't start but all electronics still work. Quote
Jay84 Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 I was thinking the same as @SHEZZA, and if you are it could be a loose connection on the clutch pedal switch. Quote
gillywig2 Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 Faulty/dirty clutch pedal switch. That was my problem a couple of years ago. Quote
Declangibbs Posted July 12, 2017 Author Posted July 12, 2017 Yep clutch pedal being pressed. Okay thanks is it a hard job? Quote
Declangibbs Posted July 12, 2017 Author Posted July 12, 2017 Just seen on another thread that you can adjust the switch. Will have a go at that tomorrow. is there any other things it could be ? Quote
biggles Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 Do the dash lights dim when trying to start? If so, could be loose battery connections not allowing starter motor to draw enough current and crank the engine. Quote
Declangibbs Posted July 12, 2017 Author Posted July 12, 2017 Will check tomorrow but I know for a fact the terminals are all connected tight. im starting to think it could be starter solenoid. just seems strange that if I leave it for a minute it will start fine Quote
davey_83 Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 I had a poor connection on the bulk head battery earth lead Quote
Declangibbs Posted July 13, 2017 Author Posted July 13, 2017 Think I've got it sussed. just looked at the clutch pedal and I can see the sensor and it's coated in blue electrical tape. Guessing someone has bypassed the sensor poorly. guess I've found this afternoons job! Cheers guys Quote
