Max-Read Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Hi guys, new one to this. I've got a basic set up on my z got a Motordyne plenum and berk de cats currently. I'm looking into a y pipe and i see Stillen, Motordyne or cobra are the ways to go. I have a standard y pipe back section and I'm curious if a new y pipe will add a lot of noise? any info would be appreciated! Quote
MITZ@CougarStore Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Adding an aftermarket Y will free up breathing and a little more noise only because the OE Y is restrictive... Quote
Max-Read Posted April 26, 2016 Author Posted April 26, 2016 ok cheers! its more the noise im concerned about. Any recommendations on what y pipe to go for out of the 3? Quote
Irn Bru Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Your de catted and your worried about an aftermarket Y pipe noise increase . I jest . Stillen seems to be the top choice for most and the member Tuck has one for sale in the 350z for sale items if your a DE owner, shouldn't really tell you that because I'm thinking of buying it myself !!!!!!! veilside z Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Torqen currently is running a deal on the stillen this month too. Quote
Jay M1988 Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Stillen is the best option in my opinion. I went through two y pipes with flexi's so the stillen was my best option/no flexi's as this seems to be their weak point. 1 Quote
Adrian@TORQEN Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Thanks Mike! Details on the Stillen Y pipe deal here: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/107479-torqen-april-mega-sale-great-savings-inside/ Quote
RobPhoboS Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 A word of warning regarding the Stillen - on my car with decats it made a hugely irritating hissing type of sound around 1900rpm when off of the gas. It's a quality made product but it drove me nuts so I sold it. Quote

Funny, i've noticed a little of this too with my Japspeed decats, but the popping and crackling on over run persuades me to ignore it 1 Quote
Max-Read Posted April 28, 2016 Author Posted April 28, 2016 yeah i've got the small hiss with mine currently, it hasn't got to the annoying point quite yet though. Just enjoying the noise how much difference will a stillen y pipe give bhp wise? A bit off topic, where's the best place to go for the remap, ive heard abbey and Horsham dev? Want to make sure I'll get the best out of the car and mods when its done! Quote

LDUNKZ18 Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 Im having issues with my stillen y pipe its hard against the floor on the passanger side i have berks hfcs fitted also. Any idea why its not fitting? I have a uk de.. could i of maybe been sent one for a hr or does that matter? Quote
SHEZZA Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 Y pipes are the same for the DE and HR, only the cats are different between the two models. Quote
LDUNKZ18 Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 So could it be my cats? They fit the headers no bother surely thats where the difference is on the hr? Quote
LDUNKZ18 Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 Im connecting a isis gt single exit to the y and the middle box is against the prop shaft.. no idea whats causing this.. y pipe cats or shape of middle section itself. Any help is appreciated Quote
veilside z Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 I bought the Stillen Y from Adrian at TORQEN, still yet to fit but looks an awesome bit of kit. :) Quote
veilside z Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 Both do the same..Which ever closest to you. Quote
LDUNKZ18 Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 Might be an option... take out centre box and get a custom one made to fit and make it more of a cylinder than an oval box Quote
