There's a forum guide here http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/22880-guide-for-new-memberspotential-buyers/ and some external stuff here http://www.pistonheads.com/features/ph-buying-guides/nissan-350z-ph-buying-guide/32601 and here http://www.evo.co.uk/nissan/350z/6220/nissan-350z-buying-guide

best advice is to have a look in the for sale section, there's always some good uns popping up http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/51-zeds-for-sale/

Good luck in the hunt :)

I'm sure most people will tell you this, and I wholeheartedly agree, Try and get a forum car/enthusiast owned car.

They are generally speaking a damn good buy, and you know they have been looked after and cared for, regardless of cost.

I wish I had found the forum before I bought my 350z, but I managed to find a 1 owner 50k miles '56 model. I was happy with the price at the time, but having seen what I could have gotten, in better condition, I kick myself every time a car comes up for sale on here :p

Stick around, and feel free to ask questions, there is an entire fountain of knowledge on here :)

Generally I'd try and ignore cosmetics ( I know it's hard ) but if you find a mechanically sound one, with full service history, drives well and feels good but looks worn outside, I'd still consider it.

The 350z is known for bad paint, so try not to get too hung up on it anyway - I know it does reflect its life ( pun intended ) but I'm sure a stone chip or scratch will bug you less than say, a clutch job?

i would say look at plenty. i looked at 8 before buying mine. i had read all the guides so had my questions ready but the condition was miles apart on some. i looked at ones from 5 grand to 10 grand i looked at one for £8500 and it was terrible but only had 27,000 miles. it hadn't been serviced in 4 years, wheels needed a refurb, no car mats, boot struts needed replacing, still had original tyres that needed replacing, it had been kept under a tree for years and the paint was horrible.

also 4 out of the 8 i looked at had crash damage or had been repainted. look for any paint over spray on all the rubber seals, check panel gaps and different shades of paint. don't buy the first one you see buy the right one and be prepared to increase your budget slightly for the right car. i drove 110 miles to look at one that wasn't right and 160 miles to look at one, same again it was terrible. 99% of them all look good on the photos but a lot of the time the reality is a lot different. you need to look at plenty to see what sort of condition you get for your budget.

i payed £5400 for mine and the only one that was in better condition was the £10,000 one. the one for 9k, 8.5k, 7.5k and 6k were all in worse condition for some reason or another ie..servicing record, bodywork, higher mileage, replacement parts needed etc........

Interior paint chips worse than children's nail polish so many interiors will be scratched up and generally look quite worn if not respected and looked after.

06 models can have a oil issue that can be quite costly I believe?

Spend the extra ££ in the first place to get a GT model as you will only end up spending the extra money down the line to buy the extras!

Don't get hung up on the Bluetooth feature as most aftermarket systems I found are better.

A well serviced example will generally be gtg and give little in the way of issues.

Don't buy one with a "GTR" bumper 😄ðŸ‘

Buy mine

End of thread

In all seriousness take your time and if you can, buy a forum car. You know it will be well looked after as we are all on here for advice from people with experience.

My car would have probably been serviced by the local mechanic if I wasn't on here. Instead it's serviced by a 350z specialist who has pride in his work.

Apart from that, all the usual check on any second hand car still apply.

Make sure it has been run on nothing but V power or equivalent

And good luck in your search. I looked at one Car and bought one car. It's was from this forum.
