Ekona
Good cars will, crap ones won't. Mk4 Supras are already stupid money, as are R34 GT-Rs. On the flip side, mk2 MR2 Turbos are peanuts and frightfully quick, and let's not even look at how cheap the billionty Inprezas are... The 90's also had an awful lot of dross, let's not forget that! Mondo 300
As a proud owner of one of these 90s cars, I've found that the value of mine has pretty much doubled since I bought it last year!
zebedy
I used to own a 3000GTO tt. Now they are less than a grand. Great fun for that price even if it only lasts you a year.
Rock_Steady
I agree with Ekona. It'll be certain cars. Not any old Jap/Euro turbo tin. Punto turbo for example, pretty quick. Almost as quick as their failure with clutches. No thanks.
Rock_Steady
Maybe I sold me GT-four too early
veilside z
80s cars are rocketing also.
mdunbar
80 and 90s cars are modern classics now, hence their increase in value... but as has been said only the good/exotic or relatively rare examples (Cosworth 500, Imprezza 22B, Evo TME... anyone?). It usually takes a car to become a classic proper (aka 40+ years old) and in good condition before any old car is worth money. Most are scrapped before that stage, if not worthy. I reckon the zed, for example, has pretty much hit rock bottom price wise now. We'll see a load at around the £2k mark for a year or two before they go to the scrapper in the sky and then the ones that are left and unmolested will start to increase in value in another 10 years or so from now. brillomaster
I think they've got longer to go before they start going up again... the 350z was made and sold in much greater number than any of the desireable 80s and 90s cars were, so its going to be a long time before they start getting rare - plentiful supply will mean prices are low. Also, theres really no reason why they should start being scrapped, we know the engine is good for 200,000 miles if well maintained. Rust may start to become an issue though, as the earlier cars are now starting to bubble up on the rear arches in most cases.
mdunbar
Fair point and quite a long production run. Maybe 20 years... what's a decade between strangers eh
AMT
Standard Supra's are such a pretty thing!
coldel
I am certainly going to sit on my current 90s Jap car, in great nick, almost standard, no rust, great history only one direction it is going to go in value me thinks.
Dynamic Turtle
What is a "standard" Supra?
