    Rubbish brakes

Thanks for that introspect,I didn't know that, so that invalidates the Dixcel R's on that basis. I don't do enough trackdays to justify replacing the discs until they are toast and they have only done 5K miles now. Cheers Steve

    Rubbish brakes

Right have done some reserach an dfound teh following: Ferrodo DS2500's have a coefficient of friction (Mu) of 0.42 throughtout the temperature range EBC Yellowstuffs have a coefficient of friction (Mu) of: 0.5 when cold 0.31 up to 550 celsius 0.21 up to 800 celsius And Project Mu pads: "LEVEL MAX 500" (Oct/2006) >> Material: Carbon metal, Temp: 0~500C, Friction: 0.41~0.47mu "LEVEL MAX 700" (Oct/2006) >> Material: Carbon metal, Temp: 50~700C, Friction: 0.43~0.51mu "LEVEL MAX 900i" Renewal. (Oct/2006) >> Material: Carbon metal, Temp: 100~900C, Friction: 0.45~0.60mu Couldn't find the info for the P 01 compound. Does anyone have this information? This explains why as my yellowstuffs were getting hotter and hotter on Saturday I was having to brake earlier and earlier and why it felt like they were fading.

    Rubbish brakes

Hi Bullet, I must have missed that post, I don't recall it anyway but my memory is not the best! I've had a look around the EBC site and can find no information saying stuff pads shouldn't be used with grooved discs, as such I have sent EBC and email. See if I get a response, I didn't last time I contacted them! I am intending on getting some braided lines before my Nurburgirng trip in August / Spetember and I will change the pads before then as it seems most people think this is the root cause of my issues. Currently I have been given options of: Ferrodo DS2500's Dixcel R's Performance Friction 01's Mu Pads I'll have a look on the various websites and see if I can work out which are best for 2/3/4 trackdays per year. Thanks Steve

    Rubbish brakes

yesterdayi paid a little visit to an open pit laned mallory parK racetrack. I had an awesome day and the zed was brilliant on track all except for the brakes which just felt terrible the whole time! I wouldn't say I was 100% confident in the braking performance. The brakes never seemed to develop or have an aggresive bite and flying down to gerrards at 120 was sometimes a bit worrying! I'm running yellow stuffs, turbogrooves and motul rbf 600. Is this problem likely to be a pad issue? I.e I need better ones like 2500's? The brake pedal pumps up rock solid which suggests no fluid issues. Any suggestions appreciated cheers steve
  5. That kit is awesome, never seen that B4 looks lovely, I wanted a Nismo but now. . . . . . . Hope you get it sorted.
  6. I have used KNM Motors in the past at Morley- http://www.knm-motors.co.uk for odd bits and pieces and got my brake discs skimmed there. They are part of the good garage scheme and have decent reviews. Google good garage scheme. Its a family run garage with lots of new equipment all the guys I've dealt with seem like decent chaps and so does the owner. They probably don't have much experience of sports cars or Zeds but everything you have mentioned in your list are simple tasks generally speaking, there is no major surgery so any decent garage will be able to do the work at a fraction of the price over Nissan. or there is always the option of DIY.
  7. +3 got mine done last weekend on a Hunter. Where are you located? If anywherer near HD2 (Huddersfield) give Allcar Tyres and Exhausts a call thats who I used and they did a good job. Car feels totally different.
  8. Feel your pain my exhaust was also a PITA I resorted to a big angle grinder to get it off in the end. The Y pipe to mide pipe bolts were super tight took some big effort to get that off!
  9. Suppose this is one for the mods. Just wondered why there isn't a Technical >> Suspension+Steering forum? Is it possible for one to be created? Its difficult to post something in a relevant area that people will see relating to suspension. Choices as I see it are: Technical >> Tyres Modifications >> Suspension Technical >> Servicing In my opinion non are the kinds of places you might think to look for geometry settings (I have seen these in the tyres bit BTW) etc or where you can post a problem relating to OE suspension. Just a question not a complaint, I don't mean to offend. Thanks Steve
  10. I too have spent a shedload this month Tyres - £450 P2 Service - £235 Japspeed K1 and Y Pipe - £260 Auxiliary Drive Belts - £30 4 Wheel Alignment - £65 Trackday - £120 Total £1150 Fun = Priceless MOT is next month then insurnace two months after - an expensive summer Still plan on doing Cadwell and the ring before Autumn as well!
  11. Thanks mate, Before I did this my window would sometimes wind itself halfway down when I armed the alarm since doing this its never done it again. Hope it sorts yours out
  12. I'm selling a Sony Digital Photoframe DPF-D72N. Its brand new and never been used. No lies or beating about the bush I got it free when I bought a new TV last week and have no use for it because I already have two other types. It retails at £79.99 but seen as I got it for free I'm selling it with a big discount. more info on the item here http://www.sony.co.uk/product/dpf-simplicity/dpf-d72n How does £50 delivered sound? Cheers Steve
  13. Cool that all makes sense now. Cheers
  14. Thanks mate but I did a search on the net for Gordon's Tyres and there were lots of bad reports so I didn't fancy them. One report of toe adjustment with a hammer! But I did find a place at Huddersfield - Allcar Tyres and Exhausts from http://www.alignmycar.co.uk. They seem like avery good place to me. All the mechanics were sound were asking me about the car etc and they have a proper Hunter 4 wheel alignment machine that checks Camber, Castor, Toe, Thrust etc etc If anyone needs aligning I would be very happy to recommend them. It cost me £65 for the 4 wheel alignment and the car feels much much better now, the steering feels way more direct. All in all well happy and all ready for next weeks trackday. I don't have a camber adjustment kit at the front so the technician was unable to adjust the front camber which is why its close to the limit but still green.
  15. Hmm, Might be a silly question but I don't know teh answer and if you don't know always ask! I was at an Airfield trackday today with a mate just spectating and there were a few cars driving round with their number plates covered up with Gaffa Tape. At the end of teh day they ripped the tape off and drove home. Its not the first time I've seen it. Just got me thinking why do we obscure our number plates when we post pictures of our cars on the net and why do people cover their number plates up at trackdays? Cheers Steve
  16. Car is going in Saturday morning for 4 wheel allignment. Found a place from http://www.alignmycar.co.uk So we'll see how it goes....
  17. Lol I've not worked out how to do that yet! I've been trying as well. Think I just need a smaller bike.
  18. I would agree with those statements, its just not worth the hassle. If you could actually get some proper torque on the nuts, i.e. had a pit or two post ramp it wouldn't be too bad but for the few quid they charge next time I think it will be off to the garage.
  19. Thanks Martin, PM sent. Cheers
  20. Can anyone recommend any places for four wheel allignment in the Wakefield. Leeds. Huddesfield area please? I've had a look on net and there don't seem to be that many places that do it, well at least advertise it! Thanks
  21. Bloody hell my pennies will be getting taken out tomorrow!!!
  22. Its always the way isn't it, you get one thing sorted then find something else wrong. Anyways today I got my new rear tyres put on and then went home and set about fitting my K1. The backbox came off without too much of an issue, the mid pipe and Y pipe were a different story! After a long time hammering swearing, bashing my knuckles and swinging on the nuts like a monkey in a tree I managed to get the Y pipe nuts off but could I buggary shift the Y pipe to mid pipe nuts! So out came the angle grinder. One or two burns later and 3 hours in total the old exhaust was off. Got the new one on in an hour and it sounds excellent, with the bungs in its just the sound and volume I was after. Can be driven quiet but when you put your foot down So whilst I was swearing at the Y pipe nuts I noticed my NSF tyre has worn to completely slick on the inside edge i.e. 0mm tread. The rest of the tyre has 4mm of tread left and so does the OSF tyre all over, no uneven wear pattern on that one. I had a look at all the suspension compoennts and nothing appears to be bent or loose etc. I'm puzzled to what has caused this but I think first job is a 4 wheel allignment session, hopefully this will fix the root cause, and more new tyres.....I've spent so much on the car this last month!
  23. Think I would need an onsite tyre fitter......hmm wonder if there is one. . . . .
  24. Aghhhh, not more things for my list!!! The Silkolene is sold in litres not stupid US measurements so 3 should be enough, that was one of teh reasons why I chose it. Thanks for the tip about MrLizard. Cheers Steve
  25. Hi mate, Well can never be sure if it has been changed properly, you know what Nissan main stealers can be like. I only go there for the stamp and do everything else myself to make sure its done properly. I've recently changed my pads and disks for turbogrooves and yellowstuffs so hoping they will be up to the job. I am thinking of going for teh Silkolene Silktran 5.
