  1. Ok thanks mate, stealer prices are always crazy!
  2. I've noticed this morning that it seems to be getting worse, it pretty much stiocks every time now. However it also did something very bizarre. on opening the door the window dropped, to about one inch from being fully open..... I'll try resetting the encoder first and lubricating everything and see where that gets me. BTW where did you get your new motor from and how much was it? Cheers Steve
  3. Hmm, interesting my car has just started doing this on the drivers side window. Every so often it will stick and not move, its happened with the window fully up and sometimes in the middle. You can hear the relay clicking when you press the buttons or open and close the door but when its stuck it won't move which suggests its sticking somehow or becoming wedged thus when the switch is pressed the motor thinks the window is fully up or down because something is causing a fair bit of resistance. The only way I can get it to work again is by pushing the window down very slightly by hand, then the window starts to work again by the switch. I'm going to take the door card off as soon as I get chance to see if anything is catching or obviously sticking and put some lubrication any place it looks like it should be. Its very annoying mainly because its intermitent! Aghhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
  4. Hi mate, I seem to recall I was quoted somewhere in the region of 140 either way I thought no chance. Srobrien I like the look of that stripped back centre console painted black looks very good and adds a bit more detail to the interior. Sad thing is knowing my painting skills I couldn't make it look that good.

  6. Hey mate I have a similar problem to you the piece of trim around the gear stick that contains the heater controls has two one inch diameter white patches where the previous owner rubbed a little too hard or spilt something. I had a quote from Nissan for a new surround which was silly money because it only comes with the heater controls which I don't want or need. I was thinking of painting that part with a white gloss gel coator silver gel coat. I don't know if the paint you have selected will be a good match, there sadly is only one way to find out but maybe its an opportunity to change the overall dash colour? The plastikote paints, in my personal experience, are quite good give a decent finish generally as long as you take your time and shake the cans properly. Good luck fella.
  7. Well I was there was a really good day except for a few spots of rain but that made things interesting, it wasn't always the usual suspects who won everything, well nearly..... Was nice this year the sun wasn't out all day menaing no sun burn and the air was cool, led to some fast quarters, a host of 9's Quite afew cars suffered problems including the skylines, evos and fensport celica not to mention a few MR2's in pieces and the little Rover 200/MG who's gearbox ended up in little pieces at the start line. Only saw one other zed there, a silver one parked with the northeast.co.uk car club. Very good day and I'll definately be there next year.
  8. Sorry chaps if I've missed an already started post about this topic. Is anyone heading over to Elvington this Sunday for Ten of the Best? Me and a mate will be in the Zed hope to see a few of you about
  9. Thanks guys, I'm pretty sure its not the garages fault because they don't have a bodyshop there and they are a good set of lads but will go and speak to them just to check. Been going to them for years now. Right I'll start with the clay bar and take it from there. Cheers Steve
  10. Plenty of life left mate, I haven't measured the thickness but there isn't a visible groove where the pads have cut a track yet.
  11. CS as soon as I have saved the cash or some cash! I'll be putting my order in! Just a quick one I've been looking back through my service sheets and discovered my front discs were replaced just before I bought the car will it be OK, for a while, to run EBC Turbos on the back and yellow stuffs all round? I know the higher coefficient of friction and materials will wear the front discs faster. Will the yellow stuffs bed in OK on these discs and then still be able to re-bed in when I get the turbo grooves for the front? Thanks
  12. Well after pasing the MOT I gave the car a good wash yesterday - its been a couple of weeks since it sbeen cleaned. Well to my horror when it had dried I have found the car has lots and lots of tiny white spots all over the left hand side and bumper. They feel like and look very much like small spots of paint. As though they have been sprayed up from a cars tyres when I was following it or something. I don't recall seeing any paint anywhere. I supose when its been parked up a can of paint could have fallen off a lorry or something but I haven't seen any evidence of paint anywhere. I rubbed one and it didn't come off I managed to get one off with my nail but others wouldn't budge and don't wanna do this becuase it will obviously scratch the paint plus there are thousands of them! What do you think is the best plan of attack for getting rid of these? Would a clay bar do it? I've never used one before - or would some Autoglym paint renovator be a better option? Please help, my Kuro car looks like it has dandruff!!! Thank you,
  13. PASSED No advisories at all. Though the MOT guy mentioned my brakes would need replacing within the next few months. My rear pads were very close to teh advisory limit but I already knew they were low. When'I've managed to get my pennies saved it will be time for yellow stuffs all round and EBC Turbogrooves
  14. Well with all the shenanigans going on in teh world of F1 at the moment, i.e. the FOTA teams setting up their own championship etc there may be lots of spaces next season! Car looks good mate, and so does that avatar :bananahump:
  15. Thats no good after only three years! I hope you get it through soon bud with a bill thats not too big! Then back to
  16. Well its that time of year again. The one time I truly dread when the car has to go in for the MOT. Hopefully it will be OK but there are a few things which are getting right about ready for replacing, just hope it gets through and I can keep saving the money I need to replace the bits in the future. Top of the list are new rear brakes but just moved in with the mrs and never ever have any spare cash! CS will be getting a PM when I have saved enough pennies.
  17. My 350Z . . . . . when I first drove it I was decidedley underwhelmed having moved from a Celica GT4. The turbo kick made it feel much quicker. Anyways the mrs pushed me to buy the zed so I did and all I can say is now I have learned how to drive it properly its so much faster, more fun and scary than my GT4 was.
  18. Thanks guys, I'd not thought of trying the Dremel. The superflex stuff has a 2mm single wire braid which is coiled like a spring and then the silicone is formed over the top of it. Generally you only need to cut through one coil per cut which isn't too bad. The braid isn't to increase burst pressure as such but to stop the hose collapsing when you bend it at angles. I'm using it on emy track car cos all the coolant hoses need replacing and OE ones are ridiculous prices!!!! Thanks
  19. Morning chaps, I'm wondering if you can help me, does anyone know the best way to cut Samco superflex hose (th eone with the metal wire in it) I can cut it but the neds look a right mess with the wire merrily poking out. I've been using a Stanley and a Hacksaw which isn't a good idea. Any help appreciated. Thanks Steve
  20. Well I had my first experience of a trackday on Sunday at Donnington park only as a passenger but all I can say is that it was bloody awesome!!!! I was a passenger in my mates MR2Turbo its about 350BHP all I can say is wow!!! Had such an amazing day I really can't wait to go on a trackday and actualy drive. I couldn't afford this time around. There were two Zeds there an orange one - gen 1 or gen 2 running full michelin slicks and had an aftermarket stainless exhaust - no branding, apart from that looked totally standard and also a black one that was totally standard gen 3. Anyone off here? Both looked good and sounded sweet just wished I could have afforded to take mine round.
  21. Thanks for the information guys very good info. I've heard of Dixcel stuff but thought it was only available from the US? Has anyone ever used Carbotechs? My mate has them on his MR2Turbo and swears they are the best brakes he has ever had.
  22. I haven't reset my computer for last 5 tanks of petrol and averaging 23.3mpg which includes day to day commuting and sitting in queues for about an hour a day rest of time is a mixture of town, A roads etc etc Best I had was 36mpg on the motorway chilling at 55ish On the hole zeds are not too bad if you are used to perfromance cars. Worst I've had was 4.7 mpg after a monster thrashing session.
  23. Not quite going trackday fast on the day to day commute Thank you for the info saying that the DS2500's are all good from cold thats always good news when things go pear shaped... Thank you
  24. Replies on this forum are Like lightening!!! excellent!! Do the DS2500 still work well when they are cold? I spend most of my time on the day to day commute and obviously don't want any I can't stop moments!!! So a set up which works on track and on the street is what I'm after. Thank you
  25. Good evening all, I'm hoping to go on my first trackday at the end of the month and need some new brakes, pads are getting quite low and the rear discs look to be getting a bit thin - still without run out limits on a clock but worn to around 2mm depth. My question is do I go for standard discs or EBC turbogrooves? Also which pads should I go for? Standard, red stuff or yellow stuff? I want some pads that will still be good on the work day commute and not cause me any oh @*!# moments can't stop....... I've seen the good prices CS offers on the EBC pads. Any info anyone can offer will be very much appreciated. If it makes any difference Donnington Park is the venue. Steve
