  1. I'm still not convinced externally about the 458, and the MP4-12C looks like Generic Supercar 74 in black.
  2. I wouldn't put Fairy Liquid anywhere near a car of mine, far too aggressive. Do it properly with a decent clay + lube, and then build up your layers.
  3. It's not a difficult car to drive at all as it's quite lardy and the engine is a lazy lump, so don't be put off by the horror stories you may hear!
  4. Welcome along, previous owner of VXR220 no. 20 here Personally I'd find another couple of grand and treat yourself to a much better example, but good luck with finding your Zed soon! **EDIT** Ah, just remembered your username from .org, knew I knew it from somewhere!
  5. Oh, and love the Turbo style rear vent stickers!
  6. The rear is obviously a disguise, that much is clear. Anything rear of the A pillars on cars at that stage of testing can almost be disregarded. What I find interesting is the front. Given that the water-cooled 911s are very picky about their front airflow over the rads, there doesn't appear to be any gap for them in the far corners on the front bumper, which is where 996 + 997 owners have had issues with rad corrosion and leaf collecting. I wonder if there's a much bigger re-design there mechanically than it seems? Then again, it may purely be a mule for drivetrain and interior winter testing, which would negate the need for as much front end cooling anyway. **EDIT** Scratch that, just seen a bit more of the video and the vents are clearly shown. Regardless, as long as it drives the price of 997 gen2 C2S's down when it's released I'll be a happy man.
  7. Spigot rings are completely different to spacers, they literally just fill in that gap you mentioned. Also ZOMG at the offset!
  8. If you gave it to Max Power then they have a duty of care to you to make sure it's sorted. In this case, they would then have to chase the garage to sort it out but as you had no direct contact with the garage over the fitting of the bonnet (or at least that's what I'm gathering from your post) then you can't really chase the garage for it. Their contract for the work is with MP, not you.
  9. And replace them soon (both sides) before you warp the discs and need to replace them too.
  10. Correct, but if that's 304bhp at the wheels then it's about a 25bhp gain
  11. Holy crap, I do believe that's getting dangerously close to me and Greekman agreeing on something!
  12. I agree with Sarnie on this one. It'll be interesting once the cars are out of warranty and the real ownership costs start turning up, that'll determine the price of the cars more than anything I suspect.
  13. I couldn't care less what motoring costs me. It's my one pleasure in life and I'll sell everything I own before I stop driving my car when and where I want to, and if that means a few more trees and cute ickle bunnies have to die then so be it. The human race spent thousands of years to get to where we are today, I'll be buggered if I'm going to let all that hard work go to waste by driving less just because it saves me a few quid.
  14. The alternative is that you've fried the ECUs and melted the wiring. Happens very often when people connect the terminals the wrong way round. You may have got lucky and it's just a fuse, but prepare yourself for the worst just in case.
  15. JDM plates aren't legal on UK cars, and you can't have any other text on the plate other than the place you bought it from (which is also mandatory).
  16. Couple of things... Saying that they've got a Merc AMG is like saying they've got a BMW M: We need more details as it's not a car in it's own right! Also, I'm going to guess that your old man isn't much of a corner lover but prefers his fun in straight lines which is why he likes the big V8 Mercs, as the performance of the 987 S really doesn't suck when you drive it hard through the twisties. Yes, it'll feel slower in a straight line as you need to work the gears really compared to the laziness that a torquey V8 brings to the party, but it's a bit harsh to say the Boxster sucks (even if it is your Dad's words!). Also, we may be a Zed forum but I'm guessing we're all petrolheads first and foremost, so it really doesn't hurt to say when other cars our better than our own. We all had our reasons for picking the Zed over other comparable cars, but that doesn't mean we bought the quickest & nimblest & best looking car available to us. My car is much uglier than either the Boxster or the Cayman, is slower and handles worse out of the box, but it's got a touch more character IMHO and that's why it got my money. My previous car was quicker and better handling than any of the above, but sometimes you want something different in a car which is also possibly why your Dad likes his current steed.
  17. Their 91 is our 97 though don't forget
  18. Still illegal and will fail MOTs
  19. Sorry, I thought you were after dodgy spaced ones or ones with crappy fonts or something, my bad! Do you not have a local motor factors place round your way? Failing that Halfrauds ones are good quality, but they'll rape your face off with the cost.
  20. Given how much the police are cracking down (rightfully so in my opinion) at the moment on dodgy plates, I can't see any reason for running anything other than normal legal plates. It's really not worth the hassle.
  21. If I win I really hope I can get it without my forum name engraved on it, would much rather it just had the club logo on...
  22. 987? Great choice of car, you'll get no argument from me that it's a better car than the Zed.
  23. Unless it's OEM, then absolutely yes you must. To not do so is breaking the terms of your insurance and can render it void.

  25. TB spacer will not do anything to your car at all and is pointless unless you're going FI and need the vacuum tap points. All that crap about venturi air flow is great in principle and on large air intake (think much bigger than a car!) but on the Zed it will do two halves of naff all. It's the same principle as those useless electric supercharger/vortex generator things you see on eBay all the time, and they're no good either. Don't waste your money. Just to point out though that Adam hasn't claimed you'll get more power/MPG out of his so I'm not knocking him or his product at all, just in case this scans wrong!
