Rich mentioned the Swissvax waxes earlier, and having gone from Megs liquid wax to Dodo Juice to Swissvax Zuffenhousen, I can honestly say it's really worth the extra dosh. One coat is all my car has seen so far, and a quick wash + Red Mist has it looking stunning again. Really impressive stuff, if you're into your car cleaning then I'd say it's well worth investing in a pot. After all, it's only the price of a tank and a half of fuel these days.

The whole engine will be under positive pressure when on boost, I assume the hissing there on idle too? If that's the case, then there's probably a leak somewhere and given the oil in the spark plug wells, it's safe to assume there's a small leak there. I'm guessing there's no warranty left?

I hate to say it, but that's going to be nigh-on undriveable on anything other than slicks on a very dry day. You'll constantly be pointing backwards unless you're Jenson Button, although you're Dad might well be capable of handling it for all I know. If you imagine that an R500 doesn't exactly hang about, and that's got a much lighter engine up front...

Ooh, biggest and most important thing to do is to get a good night's sleep the night before! I usually struggle with that part, and yet the difference between me tired and buzzing on adrenaline and me wide awake and in full control is like night and day; I'm a billion times smoother after a good sleep. Easier said than done when you're exited though!

Standard fluid and brakes went soft for me in a HR Zed at Bedford GT after 3 laps in the soaking rain in Jan last year, I'm fairly hard on them though. The track there is 3.2 miles long, so that might give you an indication of what you can expect if you multiply the maths out.

You'll be fine. Just add the carpet as suggested and park as far over the left as you dare. My garage is a standard size one and I managed to get in and out of the Zed okay without too much hassle.

I'd say it was pretty fairly priced IMHO. The pics are fine, one of the interior and one distant shot of the exterior would be about as much as any buyer should need.

Toby, don't forget to notify your insurer of all these modifications know you know what they are, although I suspect either you have done so already under a generic term with them or that's what all these posts are for, to get the info to notify them.

You mean totally unlike OSX which leaves bits of programmes floating around all over the place in use? I've got both, I like both for different reasons. Pre-Win7 I'd probably have said go for a Mac if you're not ever going to game, but since Win7 is on a par with OSX for just about everything you'd have to be mad to pay Apple prices when you can get the equivalent PC for half the price. And that's coming from a self-professed iWhore!

Try it and see. If you're gentle on the throttle you'll probably not notice any difference anyway.

Absolutely, I ran R888s in 225/40 and 245/40 and had no issues at all. That would be about as far as I'd go though, and tbh it really doesn't make that much difference to the appearance especially on stock suspension.

Keep them clean. Sounds daft, but tyres with proper black protection on them look a lot smaller to the eye than brown ones that are filthy. Not sure what/if/how often you put stuff on them, but for a cheap solution it'd be well worth trying that first else you're going to murder ride quality on lower profiles.

Eh? Don't go on the difference between front and rear, go on the difference between each tyre compared to stock. For example: The difference between a 245/45/18 and a 255/35/18 is 6.2%, or way over spec. The difference between a 245/45/18 and a 255/40/18 is 2.4%, or just slightly over spec. I'm assuming you've gone for wider tyres so you can run wider rubber, in which case the 275/35/18 is 4.1% over spec which should be fine. A 245/40/18 would be a better companion too on the front, as you've only increased the stagger by 10mm which shouldn't lead to too much understeer.

Sorry mate, I wasn't really after an argument either, my post did come across a bit harsh I'm more genuinely intrigued as to how anyone could find that in anyway safe. I'm all for ragging your car hard and fast on track, and god knows I've pushed my limits a few times, but I would never ever consider driving that close to anyone at that speed. One slight mistake from either of you and you're looking at a hugely expensive repair bill at the least. I really want to drive Combe, just need to get the bloody race-prep MR2 up and running now really

How can you say that? How on earth is it safe to be doing those speeds following someone that close? You'd rightly get bollocked for it on a motorway, so why does it suddenly become acceptable on a non-competitive track?

Sidelights are pointless: They're meant for parking, not driving with. Either use normal dipped beam or turn them off if they're not needed, a halfway house helps no-one if used during the day if you're using them to make yourself more visible to others, as sidelights are crap.

225/45/18 on the front would be much better, no need to drop the sidewall width as you'll kill the ride. 255/40/18 on the rear would be better if they do them on the rear, or a 275/35/18. You'll get a standard 245/45/18 tyre on a 9.5" rim anyway.
