  1. Buy the 5Zigen I've had mine for quite a while now and I still love it
  2. Argh! Cashed in £90 of 20p savings a few weeks ago!
  3. Spoke to the guy yesterday. He has put the price up as he is out of stock and will lower it again when they come back in. Odd way to say you have no stock left
  4. Possibly it's over the high beam light? It's mega-bright on the JDM. Maybe the airbag warning light?
  5. A dry filter (cotton, paper, whatever) and oiled cotton both have the same properties in that they are a mesh of fibres with holes in them. These holes will eventually block up and restrict flow. With a dry filter the weave is fine so that it can trap much smaller particles, the down-side being that it's efficiency drops relatively rapidly over it's life. To keep optimum efficiency it needs to be replaced frequently. The difference with an oiled filter is that it can afford larger holes. Rather than particles being trapped by bouncing through until they jam in a hole just smaller than them, particles stick to the oil as soon as they hit. This lets the particles accrete in a random fashion and in doing so they too leave holes for air to travel through, the dirt forms part of the filter and in doing so prolongs the efficiency of the filter. This is why a dirty oiled filter can still be very effective with such a long cleaning cycle - in fact cleaning them before necessary gives no real advantage and can even slightly reduce their efficiency and dirt capturing ability (we are talking small number here though). All in all, a dry filter needs changing often, an oiled one doesn't. A dry filter is more efficient at removing dirt from the air but IMO the marginal amount of extra dirt (and very small particles) getting by through an oiled filter just hits the engine oil and is filtered out in the oil filter anyway, or is so minute that it is of no consequence. If you change the oil and filter as recommended (or sooner) and you do more good than mucking about at the air filter end. Choose a dry filter if you like fiddling all the time, or an oiled on if you are lazy (like me). I hope that made sense, even if it wasn't of any interest to anyone! BTW I had metal mesh over weber carbs on a car once and the noise was fantastic! I used to feed the engine with Wasps but I was a lot younger then. I expect they added to the carbon build up as i never saw them shoot out the exhaust as an ember You pays your money and takes your choice I guess.
  6. Yeah, already tried that. Nothing in this country (I don't count the one from China for £99!). There is stuff from the states but I don't like that. I'll leave this up for a week in case a 2nd hand one pops up, otherwise it will have to be a new one. Cheers everyone

  8. Not sure I've seen any plain ones Chris... Yeah, they are out there but I don't like the idea of buying from the states with all that customs malarky... http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/11-2962 Can't see that being much cheaper Nope, it looks like it is second-hand or £80

  10. Eek, its more than I thought it would be. TBH I really don't like CF and intend to paint it Azure anyway. A simple plastic version would do...

  12. Funny, but I've never done it either so would probably be just as bad!

  14. I'm trying to find one of the mouldings that you fit high up on the front bumper which allows cold air into the engine bay when the car is moving. They are rectangular, sometimes carbon fibre (or CF effect), and are basically a fancy rim for a hole you make in the bumper just in front of the usual air intake. I've looked around the web but can't find one. Maybe they are only available as part of an induction kit? I've seen quite a few on cars so I know they exist - can anyone point me in the right direction?

  16. I had a chat with the guy from Car and Bike Magic this morning - the body shop that did all of Phil's paint and body kit work. He says that he has a couple of guys that see him (or his family) quite regularly and that he is improving very well. His memory is returning and he is now even up to date with remembering that he had a Skyline which we all know means he is not far off being up to date. Obviously he still has a way to go but his improvement so far is quite remarkable. I'll see the guy again later today so I'll ask him to pass on best wishes from you all on the forum. Incidentally, the trade at C&BM for 350Zs has dropped off substantially now ESR has gone, which is a shame as they have built up plenty of expertise with Zs. These are guys that Phil trusted to do all of his work and the results they come up with are truly professional. They are 5 minutes off the A1 in Sunderland and very easy to find. If you need some work doing, do consider them, they are worth the trip to get a decent job done.
  17. My all time fave (non-tommy cooper) pun... A man walks into a restaurant and orders squid. "Certainly sir," says Jervaise, the waiter. "Would you like to choose your squid from the tank over there?" "I'll have that little green one with the moustache," says the customer. "Oh no!" replies Jervaise. "But he's my favourite! He's so small and cute and friendly. Surely you'd prefer one of the bigger, meatier ones?" "No," says the customer. "It's got to be that one". So Jervaise gets the little green squid out and puts him on the chopping block, raises his knife and ... the little squid looks up and smiles, twitching his bushy moustache into a big friendly grin! "It's no good' says Jervaise. "I can't do it. I'll have to ask Hans who does the washing up. He's a big, tough brute - he'll be able to do the evil deed?' So out comes Hans, while Jervaise disappears off in tears. Hans picks up the knife, raises it to chop the little squid's head off and ... once again the little friendly squid looks up and smiles, wiggling his little legs and twitching his little moustache. So Hans, too, finds it impossible to kill him. It just goes to show that Hans that does dishes is as soft as Jervaise with mild green, hairy-lip squid.
  18. Yeah, nice recommendation Martin, thanks.
  19. Hurray! I can still hope! I don't think I'd notice 10 bhp or even 20bhp, but give me that midrange torque !
  20. Just been in to see them. Booked in to suit me (friday), lift to where I need to be and all for the price of £130+vat Still wish I hadn't done it though
  21. So who bid 10,351 but wouldn't squeak to £10,501 to get past the reserve
  22. Well I was. Nice to see it's not only me with heinous amounts of bird poo in the car
  23. Are you kidding? Dash lights that change colour when you get to higher revs - Way Cool!
