  1. They're not terrible in the wet so long as you give them respect. The TC's really aggressive so it'll spoil your fun fairly early on, before it all gets out of hand. Just get used to the car before you switch it off!

    Bleeding Brakes

Can anyone give me an idea how much brake fluid the system holds - I'm putting braided lines on before my trackday and want to supply all the bits and pieces. Am I right in thinking that DOT 5.1 is the way to go, the only disadvantage over DOT 4 being that it's more expensive? DOT 5's squishy synthetic and should be avoided, right? Cheers for any advice!
  3. That's bloody awful. What would you do that?! Nice wheels tho.
  4. Ahh, I getcha. Yeah, how much to fit the lines? You could also quote me for a 54k mile service (inc plugs), if you like, though it might be a month or so away! I can supply all the bits, or you can quote me all in. Cheers Dave
  5. What/where/who!? Is that Co-ordSport? Do they do servicing?
  6. Hi All, I'm looking for somewhere in the midlands, near Birmingham or Worcestershire that can do a good job of 350Z servicing and fitting braided brake lines. Any suggestions? Always been to Hylton in Worcestershire, but the prices they've just given are extortionate, and the guy I spoke to didn't seem to understand the concept of braided lines so it wasn't exactly confidence inspiring. I'll probably buy the bits and take them along, but would be nice to have someone who knows what they're doing. Dave
  7. Why does sat nav push the price up by almost 2 grand when you can buy a very effective stand-alone unit for £100?
  8. Sneaky bits of a 370Z in the Need for Speed teaser vid. http://pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=18803
  9. The burgundy one's not right. The original pics at the top of the thread are more like it - the test mule with lights and bits photoshopped in (hence no spray where the lights are). They've taken some length out of the doors, shortening the car as part of the weight reduction. Something very Z4 about the rear arches. Looks a bit cartoony in some of its proportions, but i'm sure they'll sort the detailing to ease it a bit. I agree, deeper arches just make the wheels look smaller.
  10. Officially, you can go as low at 91 if needed - apparently some places in Europe have such things - but you should top up with higher octane when possible. The benefits of using better fuel are not purely power from the higher Octane - fuels like VPower and Ultimate also have detergent additive packs to help keep your bits and bobs clean. If you have a lower octane, it is more prone to preignition, particularly at high engine revs. A modern engine such as that in your zed will detect this and bugger about with the timing to compensate so as not to allow any damage. This will affect your performance, which is kinda the point of buying the car so from that point of view, better to use 98! You also get extra points from Shell if you get upgraded to the VPower club!
  11. Hi All, I've collected together the 350Z pics from my web site, mostly British GT and stuck them all on one page for easy access, in case anyone fancies a butcher's. Not many on there so far, but I'll add more as and when. Hopefully the Palmer/Jazz car will be out at Brands Hatch this weekend... http://www.msportuk.com/photo/by_catego ... an_001.php Dave
  12. Good choice! If you're after a tonneau, try Holdcroft. They're genuine bits and cheaper than I could find anywhere else. One dealer reckoned it was less than they were paying for them, but I'm not entirely convinced. Might be a forum discount available(?) It was the first thing I got after I picked mine up and realised how open the boot was. Piece of cake to fit too - just screw a couple of brackets in and you're away.
  13. Hi all. Hope you all had fun on Sunday. Despite the appalling catering and organisation at Wembley, there was some entertaining racing on track (though I'd much rather have been at the traditional Canary Islands venue!) and it was good to see Touring Car/Rally/GT drivers all giving the F1 elite a good shoeing. Some pics from the event are online at MSportUK.com, including demos and that Schuey vs Kovalainen race. Selection below (clicky)... Plenty of others here! Wish I had read the bit about the parking before I fell for NCPs "£5 in advance" parking scam for all their car parks which are £1 all day (Hillingdon) or free (Ickenham) on Sundays!
  14. Andy Priaulx should be up for it, but nobody even knows who he is. My girlfriend just said, "Who?!" so no hope for him.
  15. Hi all, thought I'd get myself started on here by chucking my tuppence worth in... Can't really comment on Z tyres at the moment, but I would say that brand marketing doesn't help grip one bit! My Celica came with Pirelli PZero Asymmetricos which were apalling on anything other than a warm dry road (when they were, admittedly, pretty good). Even contacted Pirelli Tech about it and they suggested using Direzionales on the front to clear water and Asymmetricos on the back, but I couldn't get them in the right size. Took a mates advice and swapped them for Yokohamas, first A539s (decidedly average) and then Parada Spec-IIs, and ended up with Toyo T1-Rs. Best gripping were the Paradas, but they caused a really dodgy resonance at 40/80mph which sounded like all of my bearings were catastrophically failing, then probably the Toyos. They have a soft compound (don't last as long) and rounder edges so give a more progressive break-away which gives you more confidence, particularly in the wet. Obviously it was a different car, but the principles still apply. I'd definitely rate them over the PZeros regardless of brand prestige. I know a few Lotus owners and all have ditched the Pirellis in favour of Yokos. Getting my Z tomorrow and it's on Falkens so I'll let you know about those... Also, Vredstein do dedicated performance winter tyres (often seen on bizarre concept cars at motor shows). Anyone tried those? Not sure what the warm weather penalty might be - possibly huge wear rates - but if you've got two sets of wheels, it could be worth a try for the cold months.
  16. Hi all, I'm in a similar boat, but have to wait till NEXT Saturday to pick mine up. It's a 54 plater in the sexy Blue. Just a base spec, but might need a bit of a tweak here and there. There are already 2 or 3 Zeds in the village (a couple of black ones and a kitted up blue) so I'm in good company! Chopped in a Celica which proved to be well below par for the Nürburgring this summer - hopefully get try again next year! Only got a few phone pics of it so far, but will get some pics up when I get it. Was this the Z club that was at Silverstone for the LMS in September?
