  1. If you add spacers, don't you need to do something with the studs - otherwise you'll lose 20mm of thread. Surely that can't be safe, especially for track use?!
  2. Got loads of amazing photos across Europe in a battered old Volvo, but not so many of the Z! Do these count?!... viewtopic.php?f=34&t=22086
  3. Schuey prob not allowed to drive the reasonably priced car because of his Ferrari contract. At Race of Champions he didn't ever do a round in the Aston Martin for the same reason. Shame really, would have been good to see.
  4. I think you're right about the year - fairly sure it was 2006 that the hazard button moved. Then again, they have it listed as "350Z 3.5 V6 313BHP GT Pack" so they probably don't have a clue.
  5. Just bad service - then they'll moan that nobody's buying them. Find another dealer. Customer is king!
  6. Got track cover through MORIS. Not really necessary for Spa because it's huge and you'd have to be driving like a tit to hit anything, but you can't rely on other drivers and I'm hopelessly unlucky!
  7. Neh, not really. Mods list is a short and not very dignified one: grounding kit, replacement panel filter, HEL brake lines. I have plans, especially after Spa, but that's the lot for now! No, the Bentley I think came with one of the race teams and didn't go on track. Same with the black Maser GT. My girlfriend bought it for my 30th birthday through BookATrack. It was a very expensive day, but would definitely recommend them as the organisation was spot on, helpful staff, good atmosphere. Also nice to be on track with proper enthusiasts in top motors rather than the cocky chavs in Saxos who seem to plague cheaper trackdays.
  8. Looks better than the Micra (with a huge "£99 Deposit" in red vinyl across it) that I got! I like to imagine that the team and company responsible for producing the Z has absolutely nothing to do with the team and factory responsible for turning out these things!
  9. I got an 06 roadster for 48 hours from Nissan, fell in love with it, realised I couldn't afford one, then got my 54 coupe some time later. It was the only sensible mileage UK car I could afford at the time, but I'd spent so long looking at them I'd decided I actually preferred the look of the standard wheels and had formulated all sorts of plans for (still in the planning stage) aftermarket bits and bobs that the other GT pack items seemed fairly redundant. It was a bit of an impulse purchase because my Celica was on a downward oil-drinking spiral and I'd just told the Toyota garage to "Stop lying to me, stop trying to rip me off, stop f**king me about and if you can't help me, just f**king say so!" in front of many of their customers. Thought I might not be allowed back, so I drove to Worcester and found my Z. Spent 5 hours haggling until the deal was too good to refuse and the rest is history!
  10. The 430 turned up on a trailer and the bumper arrived in the back of the towing Defender - was too low to get it in the trailer with it on. Don't think panel accuracy was high on their list of test criteria! It is an awesome circuit. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who hasn't driven it. Worth it for Eau Rouge alone!
  11. Neh, it didn't seem to be out on track all that much, but christ it was scary when it was. The closing-passing-disappearing into the distance speed of it was insane. Barely had time to react to seeing it in the distance in your rear-view mirror before it was gone!
  12. It was awesome. Had a bit of a nightmare before we left - garage who were going my wheel alignment managed to shear the end off the toe adjustment bolt and Nissan couldn't supply one for over a week - this was the day before the ferry! Managed to get one fabricated by an engineering company as a makeshift measure in the end. It held out perfectly, but was always in the back of my mind so maybe didn't push as hard as I would otherwise have done. Other than that, everything was tip top - did maybe 6 or 7 stints, each of over 20-25 mins with no probs other than the brakes getting a bit squishy towards the end of each (they were glowing orange braking for the bus stop, so understandable). Only real downsides to the day were i) the fog kept us off the track in the morning, and ii) everyone else brought much faster cars! Place was littered with F430s, GT2 and GT3 Porsches, Lambo Gallardos, KTM X-Bow, Vantage, Exiges. It was all a bit silly at times. Especially when this was out on track - 430 GT3 race car!...
  13. Some pics from my Spa trackday last month. Thought they might be appreciated here! Arrived to wet track and dense fog - didn't look good. But it eventually cleared, allowing me to get in the way of some Ferraris Wanna go back now!
  14. Good stuff. Cheers for that. It really does look Micra-spec, but hey, Nissan knows best!
  15. Sorry to drudge up old threads, but this is the only one that came up when I searched for the part number. Just bought an oil filter off t'internet - part number 15208-9F600. The box says it's for an Almera with QG15 and 18 engines! Is this definitely the right filter for the 350Z? - looks very small!
  16. On second pic it says Nismo along the bottom.
  17. The original lines on the car go through a block mounted to the car so there's calliper to block and block to hard line on each front corner. The HEL version replaces the block with a simple P-clip so you just have one line connecting the hard pipe to the calliper - less fittings and less opportunity for leaks. It's still listed as a 6 hose kit on their leaflets and site, but you only get four lines (one for each corner)!

    Keys

    +1 Seems a bit dodgy!
  19. Got a similar noise. Sounds like it's coming from behind the dash, like a loose heat shield or something. Only when accelerating hard, and more noticeable on cold days. Nissan in Worcester have had a look, but said everything was secure. Would like to get it up on a ramp and have a rummage around myself.
  20. Also about to order some oil for a forthcoming service. In the service packs, there are four 5W-40s: Fuchs Titan Supersyn, Motul 8100 X-Cess, Mobil SYNT S and Castrol Edge TD. Got some questions... 1) How come the Castrol there if it's designed specifically for Turbo Diesels? 2) Is there any difference between all of these or can we just pick a brand we like the look of? 3) You previously recommended heavy footed types to use a 5W-40 for extra protection, but the standard service oils are 5W-40, and the "Upgrade Engine Oils" are both 5W-30. Shouldn't spirited drivers use the upgrades? What am I missing? 4) My car's a 54 plate (278bhp model) coming up to its 54k service. I've got a trackday at Spa in March so it's going to be made to work. What would you recommend, and can I buy it as a service pack? Thanks for any light you can shed!
  21. Yeah, they've confirmed there should be four - sending me another out tomorrow! Looks a good kit - I ordered the denim blue and it's a really close match for the Azure Blue. Shame you can't see it once it's fitted really.
  22. Just got a set of these HEL lines to go on mine. Was puzzled as it's still listed as a 6 line kit, even though there are only 4 hoses, but it looks good anyway. Question though: these are the fittings I got with it, am I missing a banjo bolt? There are three bolts and a metal tube - should I have 4 bolts, one for each end?

    Bleeding Brakes

Brilliant - exactly the info I've been failing to find for a while, thanks! So would DOT 4 be a better bet, or shall I just go for the good stuff? I've got a trackday coming up so I could do with them working at their best. How often would you say 5.1 needs replacing? Are we talking more than yearly? Also, slightly off topic, but my last service report says they put 4.5 litres of engine oil into it - is a 5 litre bottle the right amount to supply if I'm bringing my own? Thanks again.
