I just played dumb and said it was a present from my other half, then I asked the nice policeman to show me how it should be spaced, got chatted up for 10 minutes and given a defect notice. To be honest a fine would have been less hassle than having to get another plate and go to an MOT station! Police in our area are also well known for making you rip your tints off at the roadside too!

+1 I've always said to stick it on He's scared it'll damage the paint.... Well cant really blame him I guess! Whether it is the plate or the holder the affected area is covered so what's the big deal that was exactly what I was thinking - it'll always have something over it anyway. I hope so too. I'd never thought of it that way before - I suppose the best thing to do faced with someone saying they've seen them advertised so cheap is to tell them to go and try to buy it then come back later when they realise it doesn't exist!

defo wait and let a professional do it. If any abrasive products are needed or even a pc then leave it to them! You never know, the council may cough up as well.

It's only for a little jokey xmas present but he was literally stopping himself from crying when it went. The perils of only having 3rd party insurance! He's still paying the loan off as well!
