You have to have the car kit installed before hand. I believe it is an option. The BT adaptor slots into the cradle instead of placing your phone in it.

Nissan just called me to say there is no touch up paint available for 2007 black. They expect it to be released in October and have the part number KE998G4125AA. Apparently a lot of dealers in the UK have been calling Nissan for this so I think it would be safe to assume it’d be the same for the other colours. I now have two chips. One of which is in need of serious attention.

This is a sad day indeed. He will be missed. In related news Dave Richards helicopter also went down today. http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,, ... 36,00.html

James Allen gives an excellent and insightful verdict on recent events. For example explaining how McLaren could benefit from info like weight distribution. http://www.itv-f1.com/Feature.aspx?Type=James_Allen&PO_ID=40674 I think it’s a shame other well known F1 personalities like Stewart and Walker were so quick to voice their opinions without first hearing the evidence. Roll on qualifying tomorrow.

I think the team are being punished because there was no way for the FIA to identify who exactly within McLaren was also aware of the data and was making use of it. Obviously the FIA firmly believe there were others and based on the evidence I would agree. Although Hamilton wasn’t involved in this the information gained would of translated to his car without his knowledge so if the FIA were to try and punish the drivers involved they would have to do the same to Hamilton. This would of course been a disaster to F1 globally. So the only remaining option was to punish the team. Ron would have been aware of this before submitting the information to the FIA but I’d say he had hopped only Alonso and Pedro would be penalised. We also have to remember that Ron would only of been aware of the e-mails and not the level of texting and calling that took place in the build up to each GP. Ron’s a committed racer and I’m sure he believes if you cant win on your own merit then you are a loser. McLaren will bounce back and the punishment maybe reduced after the shake up that’s bound to take place at McLaren. I would hope they would be allowed to compete in the championship next year with the permission of all the other teams. Alonso will be the biggest loser in all this. He’ll be out of McLaren at the end of the season, if not sooner (maybe), and will the sponsors of other teams be willing to have him as a named driver?

With the cable grief I've now got with Parrot I almost wish I'd bought it. Off topic but what problem have you got with the Parrot?

Even if they didn’t breach any company data protection policy I’m sure they broke plenty of other policy’s which would be justification for dismissal. De La Rosa might get away with it as he is a great test driver. It’s near impossible to find someone that can push the car to the limits consistently and has the technical knowledge to rely information to the team. Alonso on the other hand has proven himself not to be a team player in front of the worlds press.

If you didn’t bother reading all of the official statement read it http://www.fia.com/mediacentre/Press_Releases/FIA_Sport/2007/September/140907-01.html McLaren are lucky to of not been banned from F1 for the foreseeable future. Alonso doesn’t like Hamilton and therefore there is not communication between them. I suspect Pedro is on Alonso’s side. I really feel for Ron in all this. Alonso will be gone at the end of the season. Pedro might even get the push also. I would also expect a few others in the background to be sent packing. F1 is about competition. Cheating has no place in it. McLaren must, unfortunately, accept blame for the actions of their drivers and designer and anyone else who possibly may have been involved. I think if Ron had been aware of the details he would of put Alonso and Pedro up to the FIA months ago himself and F1 fans would of supported him. If you knew when a driver was going to stop for fuel you could predict how much fuel they’d be running in qualifying and plan accordingly which in today’s F1 means the race is basically yours.

Well here it is. WORLD MOTOR SPORT COUNCIL JUDGEMENT

"The kit has been imported from a dealer in Japan. This kit is TOP QUALITY and not one of the cheaper options available." Funny that. It's not one of the cheaper options yet its replica.

I never understood why they ditched the bus stop. It was one of the few overtaking spots on the circuit. The pitlane enterance will be interesting. One driver described it as exactly the width of two F1 cars. Very little room for error.

Just found this at the bottom of the official press release from the FIA. However, due to the exceptional circumstances in which the FIA gave the team’s drivers an immunity in return for providing evidence, there is no penalty in regard to drivers’ points.** **No McLaren representative will be allowed on the podium should a McLaren driver win in any of the remaining races of the 2007 season. -------------- i.e. no constructor representative. It is said that the dossier contained enough information to build, run and test a Ferrari 2007 car. How this data, if any, was used in the McLaren camp remains to be seen. Hurray up FIA and present the evidence.

You race another car in a 30mph zone and hit two trees. (according to the info)

Nissan do limit the numbers. In Ireland I think there were 5 2007 models brought in.

McLaren wont pull out. It’s all about the racing for them. But they will be doing some house keeping over the next few weeks/months. I’d put money on Alonso leaving for Renault. McLaren will push for Hamilton to win the championship in his rookie season and will push again next year to prove they did it on their own. I’m still undecided if the punishment fits the bill and will wait for the FIA to release the evidence which will be tomorrow hopefully. McLaren have said they’ll wait to see the evidence before deciding on an appeal. I really feel for Ron who looked shocked and even confused at the outcome.
-
I don't think Ferrari would want him.
-
I think you're right Kev. Alonso will jump ship if he gets a chance. The FIA said more details of the evidence will be released tomorrow.
-
So the largest and richest car manufacturer in the world paid fiat for info? Anyhow the constructors championship this year as been rendered meaningless. When you put it like that it sounds hilarious. The constructors championship is now over. No denying that. I’d say the evidence presented today showed that Ferrari’s data was used in the McLaren cars. Bottom line though is that a member or members of the McLaren team cheated on a level never seen before in the sport. Ron and the remainder of the team may not of been aware of it but the team have to accept responsibility. They will appeal but only as that’s the normal procedure. I expect next years season to be even better then this years. I also expect Hamilton to thrive in a car without traction control where as Alonso may not be able to adapt fast enough. Engines, gear boxes and drive trains will have to be stronger and drivers will have to work harder. It’s going to be a good one.
-
This is a completely different situation. In the case of Ferrari and Toyota it was actually Ferrari that sold the data to Toyota.
-
I'm a big F1 fan and realise this could hurt the sport in a big way but I haven't finished reading all the details. It could actually be a fair punishment in F1 terms. Remember Alonso, Hamilton and DeLaRosa were offer immunity from punishment if there provided all correspondence they had on the issue. There was a rumour that DeLaRosa and Alonso discussed the issue in emails prior to the date that the Ferrari file was said to of been given to the McLaren designer.

I wish it'd rain here. Strange thing to say I know but my car (black) is covered in a fine layer of street dust/exhaust particles/general crap and as I live in an apartment there's no hose available to use on her. -

Bit of a wacky thought but why not go out an measure it on your car? Or make a template using cardboard? Guy
