  1. Well according to some people, the car says "You've got a small c**k" ! Mostly jealous ones I guess....
  2. Has a couple of these too - but wouldnt have one again for the reasons you quote above! Fun to drive and quick, AWD excellent in the wet, but they are just si Chav now. STi is SO laggy under 4.5k, then it flies. Needs the PPP to get round this to a degree and give you 300bhp. Beleive the older 2.0 is viewed better than the new 2.5l as well. Cant you keep the Zed and buy a cheap Vectra for the weekends
  3. Had an RX8 for 2 years, then a chipped 2.5TDi quattro A4 for 12 months before the Zed. [Flame Suit on] Personally, I think the RX8 is a great car, but its strengths are more about handling and feel rather than outright performance. Had one of the first ones off the boat when it was something different, now I see them everywhere though and they dont get a second glance. I think the Zed design has aged better, maybe due to the fact they are less common. The Rex is well specced like the Zed, and fairly practical as long as youre not looking to put 2 six footers in the back. Fuel isnt great, but its a 230hp car. I averaged 19mpg over 2 years, my Zed is currently averaging 22/23 over similar routes. The main difference is I can get 32mpg on a run in the zed, the RX8 never got over about 23mpg so if you are doing lots of motorway driving youll notice it. The oil thing is really a non-issue. If you are an enthusiast then checking regularly shouldnt be a problem, and a litre or so every couple of thousand miles is all mine needed. Prices seem to have nosedived for them so I would look at getting a 12/18 month old one for a snip. Oh, and Velocity Red is by far the best colour. All in all I prefer the Zeds more brutish performance, but the Rex is a great car to drive and can be deceptively fast once you learn how to deal with its mostly linear power delivery. Its not a great traffic light grand prix car though, even though 0-60 is quoted as 6.4 I think, most mags struggle to get under 7s. Quite note on my Audi, it was well built, luxurious, quite quick and a nice place to be but it has horrible, horrible steering and the ride (Sport Model) was hard and crashy without being overly sporty. If you could find an Audi with decent steering and a good ride then it could be a good car.
  4. I dont believe anything a main dealer sales rep tells me, at best they are badly informed/trained, and at worst they attempt to mislead you. (Disclaimer: I have come across some exceptions to this, but they seem to be a minority) I always find there is much more knowledge and information on forums and owners clubs such as this, so its best to do your research and know what you want before you go to a dealership, that way you will be able to smell the bull***t a mile off. All IMHO of course
  5. Don't do it You dont have to actually let them drive, but putting the Mrs on the insurance can save £££s off the premium. Well it did for me anyway.
  6. Welcome and the best colour as well Is that an 05 model on an 06 plate?
  7. Awesome yet subtle I dont think Ive ever seen a Zed I would want as much as that one. Apart from maybe the colour
  8. Can vouch for the Fleur-de-Lys being a nice pub and drive out. Food would be good value at 20% off as well - how do we get the discount?
  9. Wow! Great pics Arent those Azure's common tho Makes me wish I'd come with another Kuro to even things up at bit. Unfortunately plans wouldnt allow, and neither would the steaming hangover I had either. Maybe next time......
  10. Hi Kuro GT4......you have good taste Nismo kit very nice too!
  11. Went all the way up the M6 to the lakes on Friday, back yesterday. Only saw one GM Convertable at The Mortal Man in Troutbeck over the whole 5 days! None on the M6 at all. Best 'spot' on the way back was a nice CL AMG and BMW M6
  12. Oh well, I can live with out it. Seems a strange thing to overlook considering the high standard spec of the Zed.......even my RX8 had them!
  13. Sorely tempted to come along, but not sure of commitments for that weekend yet. If last minute entries are allowed I should be able to say for definate by the weekend before
  14. Try that with an aftermarket zorst - I had 8 pardons just to dial!!! Arrghh That voice drives me nuts! me "dial name" her "pardon" me "dial name" her "pardon" me "cancel" her "pardon" me "oh for f**ks sake you stupid f**king thing - cancel!" ...her "pardon" lol ive had that conversation a few times recently! I was thinking of changing the voice tag to: "dial home you bi**h" so at least I could shout at it and it might still work
  15. Are the buttons on the steering wheel meant to illuminate at night? Ive not driven the car much in the dark since Ive had it, but was out last night and noticed they werent lit up, making them difficult to use. Other cars Ive had or driven, have had illuminated buttons so I was hoping the Zed shoud be the same. If not, thats pretty rubbish
  16. Spotted this on another forum, if anyone wishes to add their name :- http://www.petitiononline.com/tg100/petition.html Refer's to JC's recent article in the Sun: http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2006440317,00.html Best wishes to the Hamster, and long live Top Gear!
  17. Andy. Done the scoob thing myself (twice) but much prefer my Zed now
  18. The rev limit on pre facelift (excluding GT4) was 6600rpm so the list is correct. See below taken from this article: http://www.testdriven.co.uk/news.cfm/ni ... more_power "As befits a pure sports car, the changes target performance by enhancing the unit's free-revving ability. First seen in the limited edition 35th Anniversary edition, launched earlier this year, the engine revisions raise power from 280PS to 300PS and move the rev limit from 6,600 rpm to a heady 7,000 rpm. Peak power is now developed at 6,400 rpm, some 200 rpm higher than previously." "The changes have brought about a slight reduction in peak torque, which has fallen from 363Nm to 353Nm at 4,800 rpm. However the revised torque curve is far flatter than before and provides greater torque reserves at higher rpm. Torque delivery in the original 350Z fell off comparatively steeply once that 4,800 rpm peak had been reached. In the latest evolution the torque curve remains more linear as engine speeds rise: at 6,000 rpm, for example, the new engine delivers a full 20 Nm more torque than its predecessor could achieve." "What the changes mean in practice is simple: sharper acceleration through the gears. With the rev limit raised to 7,000 rpm, for example, maximum speed in third gear increases from 142 km/h to 150 km/h (88 mph to 93 mph). The benchmark 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) figure has been cut from 5.9 seconds to 5.8 seconds (6.4 to 6.3 for the Roadster)."
  19. They're not "worth it" in monetary terms in that they are just pieces of plastic and wont add to the cars value. But improving the looks and exclusivity as Mike says - Yes [gratuitous pic] [/gratuitous pic]

    De Badge

    Mmmmmmm.......black Nismo'd Zed.......off to change my pants
  21. Thanks But what you need to decide is are those nice 2006 mods worth about £7k in depreciation, as thats probably what it will cost you
  22. You could do what I did and go in between with a 2005 GT4 limited edition, which has the 2006 300ps engine. Either in the lovely Ultra Yellow like Sarnies or the more subtle kuro black like mine. Its totally subjective but the newer engine seems to pull a bit harder over 5k and it also has a higher redline. My one year old with 5k miles cost me £22.5k, but no Sat Nav or Alezan (which is a good thing IMHO ) Bugger - just re-read your post and you want a roadster. Never mind.
  23. I think the answer to that is OBVIOUS !!!!! I so love your Nismo'd Azure Zed Burgershot. That is so nearly the car I bought, it was a toss up between yours and the one I finally bought. Good job for you I went for the GT4!
  24. I dont think its the same problem as you, but mine was disconnecting after a few minutes and seems to have been fixed by setting the phone to only allow one bluetooth connection at a time. I think maybe it was getting confused by other bluetooth devices? Maybe worth a try?
