  1. Is it possible to transfer/sell a standard DVLA issued plate? My g/f has an old car she is selling next month and recons its only worth about £500. Thing is, it has a plate with '911' in it so I thought it may be valuable to a porker owner with the right initials. Having done a bit of a search, the plate may well be worth more than the car! So is it possible to sell this plate seperately, and get the DVLA to provide a replacement, or do we sell the plate and say it comes with a free car?
  2. yeah but those bar stewards wanted £290 for the P2
  3. Was that Westway Nissan near the blues ground? The dealership on the stratford road in acocks green told me that supplying my own oil would invalidate my warranty It was the Stratford road one dude. They were happy for me to supply own oil but offered a paltry discount. Nice to know they have a consistent approach I try to avoid going anywhere near the blues ground if possible
  4. Had mine done in brum last week £250 Would only knock off £20 for own oil so didnt bother. Told them I could get it cheaper elsewhere and they wouldnt budge. The other Brum dealer wanted £290! Cant be bothered travelling miles, but it is shocking the difference in prices. Surely local labour rates cant be that different.
  5. Now that is suspect, probably due to the colour Yeah, it would be even lower if it was a less desirable colour
  6. When I saw this post I though it might be referring to this Zed I saw earlier: http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/172091.htm Seems far to cheap for a 2005 Nismo GT............
  7. Power to weight, the 350Z and Teg (DC5) are pretty closely matched due to the Teg's light weight. Integra DC5 - 1180kg - 220ps = 186 ps/ton 350Z - 1545kg - 280ps = 181 ps/ton 350Z - 1545kg - 300ps = 194 ps/ton So would expect them to be pretty close in performance.

    Zed v Scooby

Ive had both (New STI not old tho) and not much in it but I know which one I'd much rather be driving 13 year old wagon would be quite light, but not sure if that would be the full fat jap spec 280bhp, or something more like 240bhp. STI feels faster due to huge lag and turbo rush and as has been said is easier to drive fast, but a lot would come down to who is the maddest driver......not good on public roads as had been said. I did have a rolling start up a private slip road recently with an 06 STi and there was nothing in it to 3 figures. If anything I gained slightly.
  9. Went to the Gower over the bank hols - got a puncture in the rear and had to put the space saver on. Was 150 miles from home and needed to get a replacement as I didnt fancy driving home at 50mph on a bicycle tyre. Rang round 10 garages in the Swansea area and only 2 stocked any 245/45/R18s. Only choice I had was budgets I'd never heard of, Avons, or Pirelli PZero's. Went for the pirellis as Ive had them before on a scoob and were ok but not fantastic in the wet from memory. Only bonus was both my rears were almost at the minimum so needed changing anyway. The Pzeros at ATS were £165 plus VAT, mananged to get them for £149+VAT in the end with a 10% AA discount, but still get the feeling ive been shafted on price and not been able to choose the tyres I wanted either. So, has anyone got these on their Z and what is the general view of them?
  10. Looks like im a bit stuffed in Birmingham with servicing costs Colliers want £250 even though I told them I had been quoted £210 elsewhere they wont budge. Will make it £220 if I supply oil - I'm sure the oil will be more than £30 on their invoice! Westway want £296 and werent interested in negotiating either. Would consider taking it to Holdcrofts in Stoke, but what it would cost in petrol, plus having to take time off and hang around whilst they do it make it not really worth while. Looks like Ive just got to pay up...but I just get that horrible feeling Im being fleeced. Rant over!
  11. RIP Stan. Not all cats are the same, Stan sounds I got two 15 year old little dudes had from kittens. They brighten up my day every day and will be gutted when they go. Cats are cool - dogs too!.
  12. Wahey first time ive been spotted! Didnt see you tho.....and its quite dirty actually!
  13. 5 litres tin reqd, book says 4.7l inc filter change. Cheers Have yet to see your red Z round Solihull dude!
  14. That was the first owner, not me! I'm doing my best to catch up Save me checking (lazy I know), anyone know how much oil I would need for a change?
  15. Thanks guys Thats what I thought. I do find it annoying that dealers can be misinformed like this. If I was a regular punter now I would just go away and do as I was told. Not everyone is a member of a car forum or has other people to check with. The manual is not very specific either, what it actually says is: "Once this service has been performed (P1), the next service is due when you reach 2 years or 18,000 miles." It doesnt say anything about the service being earlier, if the first one was at a lower mileage. It was Colliers, Acocks Green by the way. Any comments on the best place to take it in the Birmingham area appreciated. Good point re the Oil. Where's a good place to buy? Does Simon the Oilman come on here?
  16. Just got off the phone to dealer and hoped some of you can confirm what they are telling me is correct: My car was registered June 05 It was serviced in June 06 at 4300 miles It has now done 14500 miles When is the next service due? The service book says 2 years or 18000 miles, the service dept at my local dealers have confirmed this. However it also states 9000 mile service intervals - and I have now gone 10000 since the last service. If I wait until June it will be over 12000. Explained this to dealer but she said this would be ok. Are they correct? Also what is a good price for a P2 service, they quoted £250.

    Service due!

Thanks Better book it in then!
  20. I dont bother to wave/flash now. Most people I see wont even acknowledge you. Porbably 1% of Zed owners seem to wave, whereas when I had my Impreza's I reckon it was 80/90% Shame but real enthusiasts seem the vast minority.

    Service due!

Not wanting to hijack the thread, but quick question...... If my Zed had a service after 1 year and 5k miles, and the service interval is 9k, would the next service be due at 14k miles or still at 18k? (assuming it doesnt get to the end of the year 2 first)
  22. I love my Zed to bits but im getting the itching 'shall i change' feeling at the moment, along with the fact that Im doing more miles and its costing me a lot in fuel. Im tentatively thinking along the lines of a diesel mile muncher for day to day and distance driving, and 'something for the weekend'. If I sold my Zed for c. £20k this would have to cover the cost of both cars. I need the day to day car to be decent, well specced, frugal and nippy so was looking at aroung the £7-8k mark, which leaves around £12-13k for an impractical weekend car. Current thinking could be one of these: http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/138537.htm and one of these: http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/144869.htm By my reconing the costs would work out as: £1400 saving on fuel £75 extra on road tax £330 extra on insurance (elise is dearer than Z!) servicing etc not sure so I would be approx £1000 net better of per year, which is not a huge amount but £80 per month extra would help at the moment. Also, It looks like ive gotta have a company car next year, so the Zed would have to go then anyway, whereas this way I could sell the diesel car and hopefully keep the weekend toy. Is this a good/practical idea, has anyone considered/done the same, or can you just talk me out of it to keep the Zed. After all its the best car ive ever owned......
  23. To try and put a positive on this (well for me anyway ), does this mean that 05 Zs are going to become more sought after than 06s cos of the tax band differences?
  24. MarkW

    Z grille anyone?

You'd have to give me more than £50 for that Much happier with my £10 halfords job..... http://www.350z-uk.com/gallery/albums/u ... /after.JPG
  25. That's worryingly cheap! Thought I'd got mine for a good price last August... Oh and welcome Tricky
