  1. The wife bought her micra from there last year and we weren't that impressed either. They don't seem to get many Z's in though.
  2. Yeah its strange how they vary so much. Flux was the best for the Celica but no good for the Z. Sky was no good on the Celica but the best for the Z. Oh well, just shows its best to shop around. Found an insurer, just got to find myself a Z to insure! Whereabouts in South Wales are you Ian? I'm in Newport
  3. sounds like the Sky quote is not too bad then. I'm currently with Adrian Flux for my Celica but they're quoting me over £2000 for the Z!!. A-Plan were pretty good at £987 but Sky are still the best, lower excess too.
  4. Just been ringing round for some insurance quotes to see what the damage is as I'm thinking of buying an import 350z. Best so far is Sky Insurance at £941 26, 5yrs no claims Sound about right? any advice on others to try?
  5. hi all, possibly going to have a look at a Z or two this weekend, and I know one is the auto tiptronic, which I'm not particularly familiar with but quite like the idea of. can anyone answer: 1. Is the auto any slower than a manual? 2. Is the fuel economy any worse in the auto, if so by how much? 3. Anything particular to check for when test driving an auto thanks in advance.
  6. thanks guys. i think the best thing would be as AndyC says and go to a import dealer and see (and hear) the difference for myself. on the warranty issue, a good import dealer should offer some sort of warranty, albeit limited, shouldn't they? i.e. 3-6months it did seem that the salesman made a point of trying to put me off imports. Sales at UK dealerships must be quite badly affected by the grey import market it seems, maybe they should think about lowering their prices!
  7. Hi guys, thought I'd introduce myself. I've been reading the forum for a while, doing some research on the 350z with the hope of buying one in the near future. I had a short drive in one recently and I loved it although the roads didn't allow me to really try it out properly but I got enough of a feel for it to know that I want one!! It sounded amazing too I'm now considering going for an import (already in the UK) in order to save some money and I think I'm aware of most of the differences between imports and UK models. if anyone can offer any advice it would be appreciated. I seem to remember reading somewhere that imports sound different i.e. not as nice as UK models (may be just imagining this) - is this true? would be a shame if it is because the one I drove sounded great. the salesman at the nissan dealership made a point of telling me that imports "were crap" and there "were lots of problems with them". I hadn't even mentioned imported cars so they've obviously got a thing about it. I had been reading this site for a while and felt I had some knowledge so I questioned him on this and the only thing he came up with was "you only get one set of keys". hmm Anyway, hi to everyone and expect more questions from me. cheers, limby

    Import Specs

hi mate. you've prompted me to make my first post after lurking for a while. sounds like you are in a very similar situation to me. I'm currently looking to purchase a Z, similar budget, and trading in my celica too! had a look at a UK model at a main dealer the other weekend and had a drive but I'm now leaning towards an import (uk ones still a bit pricey for me) I'd be interested to know how you get on, so keep us posted!! I have lots of questions to start asking but i'll save them for another post, don't want to hijack yours. btw, part ex value offered for my celica was terrible.
