  1. This. They are just blowing compressed air through it
  2. The throttle is not an on/off switch, you can press it gently and it will accelerate at a very gentle pace
  3. Time to claim some compensation from the Gas people
  4. Red Bull gives you wings, which means if you drive after drinking it, you have a flying car
  5. Obviously crashing hasnt made you learn your lesson then I once rear ended some stupid biddy who stopped in a feeder lane on a big rounderbout in Basingstoke. Punched a hole in the bumper of my mums Clio with her towball at about 10MPH. I now leave people a lot of room entering rounderbouts and feeder lanes.
  6. I'd suggest heading over to www.driftworks.com - plenty of people over there on the same wavelength that will be able to help you out properly. Honestly if you dont understand what turning the TCS, ABS/stability off does then please dont do it
  7. Thats why she agrees to the Alps..... in the summer
  8. Is that why you didnt email me back mate?
  9. Most definately a crash or moment does make you a better driver. Unfortunately in this day and age its not easy to go "dick about" in safety and learn the limits of cars any more. So much is done in electronics and cars are so well engineered for grip that when you do get past that limit, it really bites and serious damage/injury are quite often the outcome, rather than a bit of an "oh ****" moment that might have happened in a slower, skinnier tyre car years back. IMO part of learning to drive should include a certain amount of logged hours on a skid pan and high speed handling circuit to really learn how car dynamics work.
  10. Im getting 48mpg from a Peugeot 307 2.0HDi and the missus`s new 1.5 Dci Juke atm. We're on roughly 48MPG too from the Giulietta 2.0TDM2. Was up at 53MPG on Saturday when we had a little drive and got stuck at 55MPG for quite some time (sitting in 6th)
  11. Also you cant disable VDC without pulling a fuse, which also disabled ABS. So only TCS can be turned off easily
  12. Go skiing, will be more fun Hopefully going out to the Alps next year with a mate whos parents have just bought a small place out there. No idea where its situated other than its in prime skiing/boarding teritory. Always wanted to try boarding, so should be good if I dont face plant too much
  13. You might also just have a hole in the dash if the previous owner has pushed it through. Happens more often that you might think
  14. I think I've seen that posted before, but it looks like it might have been made even more horrible since it was last posted
  15. Strangely, with the Alfa being our first TDI, we are finding less of an impact from the cold compared to the Zed. However, that might just be better right foot control in the Alfa than the Zed Zed seems to drop a good few (3-4) MPG in the cold whereas the Alfa stays about the same - maybe 2MPG different. Guess it depends how the engines are designed Definately though, cold air is more dense and the ECU will adjust to use more fuel to compensate. Also, as the engine takes longer to warm up the engine will run open loop for far longer than when its warmer outside, which results in it running richer and using more fuel.
  16. Cold air = dense air = more fuel = lower MPG As the others have said, you must have just been driving slower. Actually the bad weather means everyone actively tries to drive smoother, less accelerating/braking etc which will increase your MPG. With slow people infront of us on Saturday, the Alfa (TDI) got 53MPG whereas we usually average 45MPG on the same 20 mile trip.
  17. Not quite as quick as the other GTRs is he, has to do some very dodgy overtakes IMO Think I'd rather have been in the GT3 or Fezza
  18. Looks like fun Rather be there than here in -7C weather
  19. Ah I guess that makes sense. Just need to remember to keep the gate topped up
  20. How do those GSM ones work? Do you need a SIM card and associated bundled calls/credit for the gate to call your phone? Surely if you dont have a second one in teh house and it calls your mobile, its a bit useless if you're out the house and the missus is in but cant tell anyone is at the gate? Surely they'd be better off using WiFi, or even Ethernet over powerline to get the signal into the house and to a handset? You do like your toys Chris
  21. I still meant buy it from you but get them to fit it
