Class We used to shoot in a farmers field that backed onto MOD land. Was funny seeing the real lads running around with their proper guns and us with our air rifles the other side of the fence. Reckon we could have done them a few times

Looking good Dave. Time to dig out the shorts and t-shirts, its summer time

Remember you have a 3.5l lump under the bonnet, it has a lot of torque low down, so 2.5kRPM really isnt labouring the engine.

I have an Air Arms TX200 which I've had for a good few years and is still firing stong, I'd say its still not much off the 12ft.lbs limit. I wouldnt get one thats CO2 powered as you wont be using it often so will lose pressure over time. Far better off with sping power. TX200 is great as it has a sliding stock so there is no kick which keeps it super accurate over distance. Great for magpies, pidgeons and rats

Actually it means Person In Chair Not in Computer Its actually "Problem In Chair Not In Computer" - I am a smart arse IT bod FWIW Kiss my aux lead geek!

It has 8GB, so for days out its fine, but for a long hols I dont think it would be able to keep all the photos - especially if I'm diving and shooting RAW. I havent had it out properly yet on a long trip so dont know how quickly I will fill it, but for days out its excellent, espcially when we've been away at B&Bs and not needed to take the laptop but can then still view the photos at a decent size on an evening. Its also really handy that ShutterSnitch keeps the albums (collections) on the iPad so we can take the photos to then show friends and relatives.

Best investment I've made with my iPad was a Eye-Fi card and ShutterSnitch app. Eye-Fi is an SD card that can also create its own wifi network so the iPad can connect with it. ShutterSnitch can then pull the images off so you can view them. Backing them up to the iPad means you have a copy should the card die. Not cheap, but very handy when on hols to view and save piccies. It can even send them back home to a server to save them properly if you get Wifi at your hotel/etc.

Where abouts are you based Luke? Try to get out to some rural areas like Scotland or Wales and you'll soon see what the car is all about. Around town it isnt much fun as you get up to speed before you have any real excitement (due to the very linear torque/power) but out on open roads its a hoot

She should keep it a bit longer and get it to 1,000,000km

Dan has done his work, everyone now remembers not to mix tyres, he doesnt need to comment any more

yeah... keeping it under 4k ... LOADS of fun.... Plus... Seen the freakin' weather at mine this morning?!?!! Leave it running non-stop for the next few days, that'll thaw it out I can have plenty of fun in the Zed under 4kRPM too, you dont have to drive it like you stole it to have fun in it

Just go for a few big drives, you could hae emptied it by now

House and cars have been smashed up yet again!!
Chris`I replied to SparksCW's topic in Off Topic Discussion
The report on the BBC said they have no idea who did it or would want to do it. It was just a report on what happened and called for witnesses if anyone knows anything. Obviously we know they have their hunch but not enough to do anything about it. -

They were on the BBC this morning, I saw it reported on South Today. Hope they have some luck with catching them, but also hope they are ready for some backlash from the twerps that did it for being "dobbed in". -
Tried Google? I think we are all in agreement that you should just leave the 95RON as it is and just take it easy until the tank is gone if you want to be 100% sure of doing no damage. Chances are you wont do any anyway, but that risk is up to you.
-
I know you know the cars and this site well, but do you actually understand where and why the damage occurs? Any damage caused will be through predetonation, and will be be to pistons/big end shells generally and if that happened every time you filled up with 95RON and went over 5K then you wouldnt see the bottom of the first tank, you probably wouldnt get 5 miles down the road. The bottom line of it is that det is more likely to occur when using 95RON as the car is mapped to use a higher octane, notice "more likely" rather than "WILL". Id agree that you are foolish not to put Super in as thats whats recommended, but telling people that engine damage will definitely occur isnt correct. Ask Mark from Abbey. OK so it wont happen every time, but given the fact that people cant comprehend that even putting some 95RON in is a very bad idea, I dont think they are going to sit around and read when and where it might or might not happen. Its easier just to get people to use Super as the manual dictates and not run over ~4.5kRPM when using 95RON when you cant get Super. At the end of the day its up to the owner to do what they want, but people coming on saying "hey run 95RON its fine, nothing will happen to your car" is far worse than telling people it will damage their car when infact it might not happen very often. It obviously happens enough if cars are now starting to die from it Also when you say predetonation - are you talking about detonation (ie knock) or pre-ignition? Two very seperate things.
-
Just leave the car running in a lockup for a few days. You could have drained it all away by now
-
Dont think they are the same size bud. Cant remember where I read it, but sure I've seen it before. I'll be leaving mine alone this time after my last lot on the 350z all tarnished and went horrible (cheap eBay ****)

Yes you can run 95RON all day long and be happy, you just cant rev over ~4kRPM. This has been shown on a dyno and knock sensor that knock will occur on 95RON somewhere around 5kRPM+. So if you run a Zed as a daily driver and dont drive it hard (like I used to commute and not really go above 4.5kRPM) then your engine will be fine. If you've driven it a lot with 95RON and gone over 5kRPM regularly then you WILL be damaging your engine. Only a small amount each time but we have seen engines needing replacing when it happens. For those that run 95RON and say all is well - how exactly do you know this? "Passing" a service is not an indication of how good a condition your car is in. I've had things wrong with my cars in the past and they've "flown" through a service regardless. Nissan et all check feck all to do with how well the engine is working in a service. They swap the fluids and other consumables and thats about it. Places like Abbey that tear down engines have seen the damage it causes. Hell if you see the damaged piston in Grahams photo and just dont beleive it, more fool you.

You might want to do some more research into that one matey... http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=58599

Saw an interesting prog on the Beeb yesterday about the history of metal. Turns out that casting can be stronger than forging, in the case of Rolls Royce jet engines, they 'cast' their turbine blades, but from a single metal crystal. Very cool (and uber expensive), but makes the metal stronger than forging. Need to get some Rotas from a single crystal

I think this is affectionately known as the Tardis. I'm sure the roadster owners will be along shortly to explan

RWD vs FWD, you just need to learn throttle finesse OR get a throttle controller and set it to ECO

Nah he clearly turned TCS off
