After ringing around for insurance quotes today on 350z Gt (ST) JDM Import with no tracker, here is what I found. (Note: I have no motoring convictions or points, not yet anyway ) PRIVELIGE - TRACKER NEEDED DIRECT LINE - TRACKER NEEDED FIRST ALTERNATIVE- NO IMPORTS SKY - TRACKER NEEDED IF VALUE OF CAR MORE THAN 15K LIVERPOOL & VICTORIA - 350Z IMPORT NOT LISTED MORE THAN - NO IMPORTS ESURE - NO IMPORTS What a waste of time that was ringing up that lot RAC - YES!! BUT AT 1,700 POUNDS!! TESCO - Whom Im currently with, do list 350z GT Import & the renewal was not bad at 840 pounds & have not asked for tracker. But I think the situation may have changed now with new quotes & they may now ask for a tracker?? ADRIAN FLUX - (Underwritten by a co. called Highway) Do list 350z GT Import & no need of tracker! Very good with a nicely haggled quote with potected no claims 7 yrs, legal cover; personal injury, courtesy car, & mods also included (bigger alloys wheels; rear wing; exhaust back box), all for 764 punds.....

Iv have a 330d & then bought the Zed. I use the Zed & me & the mrs use the BMW. You cant really compare the two, each has itspros & cons. You wont get the fun & excitement in the BMW but you will get more refinement/overall comfort especially in traffic & long journeys IMO. Things such as visibility; seats in the back; boot space etc which you took for granted in the BMW, you will miss in the zed. But saying that you get a much bigger smile when you put your foot down & take a set of corners in the zed!

My mini petrol review for the zed (Reassesed see 2nd page)

No wonder, just read this: http://www.bp.com/modularhome.do?categoryId=6620&contentId=7009602 With BP Ultimate being the highest octane fuel in the UK at 102 Ron this would definetley suit my JDM zed whose ECU is tuned to run at 100 plus Ron that they have in Japan. -

Petrol prices are absoloutely stupid at the moment, hence I think I shall only be puting in BP Ultimate every 3rd fill up- 103.9 pence!! Il either stick to Esso Super at approx 100pence or sart going to Watford Tesco for 99ron at 99 pence H5 I read that article & also a similar one in Evo which found that different cars performed differently to different fuels. IIRC the Impreza's performed better on Tesco 99Ron; the M5 better on BP Ultimate or Shell etc so I guess its all a bit hit & miss. -

This is a clubman/amateur driver (Barry Johnson) on this weekend's Jim Clark rally. (The only rally to take place on closed roads in mainland UK. ) Quote: The car went on the limiter on the crest and thats 220 KPH! When we landed we were both winded and the shockers burst thats what caused the fire, the boot and rear quarters are bent down about 6 inches "It was one small step for mankind" They say no "pain no gain" and this is true cos i am going to gain a canny bill for the repairs. The bottom line is we are both going to recover and thats all that matters [:Y:] On a lighter note; when i was in A+E the doctor came in and asked what had happened. I explained it went like this; I was doing 220KPH down the road, he said what type of road, i said single track back road. Then i took off on a jump and flew 60 metres and landed heavily... He said "your in the wrong hospital mate the mental hospital is 5 miles up the road" In car footage: cc: post from M3 compact

Have'nt yet but might try it now -
Just something I thought I would share, its just my opinion not backed up by any scientific data etc! Its just from my driving experience & feel of the car. Iv tested out Esso Super unleaded for about 5 months Shell V power for about 2 months BP Ultimate for about 2 months In terms of performance Iv found that the Esso Super was average. Shell V power surprisingly was the worst in terms of performance!! IMO it did not suit my JDM Zed as well as the other two fuels. -It made idling & pottering in 1st gear a bit rough -It caused a slight delay in power delivery when putting foot down, especially in 2nd & 3rd -The car generally felt less responsive in lower gears BP Ultimate was the complete opposite, I could tell the difference immediately from Shell V power to BP ultimate. Bp Ultimate eliminated all of the above little quirks I found with Shell & the car is a lot smoother in idle, & 1st gear. With no slight delay in pick up & it just seems the car runs a lot better for it. More responsive in every gear with a smoother power delivery & smoother up changes in gears. I tested a few tankfuls in a row of each in similar climates & did not leave it in the tank for long periods. But obviously I dont know how long the petrol was sitting in the station forecourts. Also its just my opinion on my JDM zed, so its not the gospel!

Cheers Sunset I am in fact going to Orlando & Miami & will definetley try & check out those stores. Also will findout from the Orlando 350z club (I also read about them on 350z-tech) if they will be having any meets around that time, might go & take some pics etc Let me know how the trip goes as Im also off the following month Thanks Ricky

Hmm Looks like big bulky items like a spoiler & High flow cats may not be worth it. Anyone got ideas of smaller items for the zed I could get in teh US that are cheaper & or maybe not get in UK?
-
Off to Florida in September & thinking of buying a front spoiler/lip & maybe some High Flow cats. Firstly does anyone know if there are any good places in Florida to buy parts for the zed (may have to post on 350z-tech about this one) & more importantly will I have to pay any duty/tax if I bring them back on the plane with me. (also have to consider weight allowances etc)

I fully agree with the ethos of the club being free for all but IMO if voluntary donations can improve the club for the benefit of all then its an idea that may warrant consideration. I myself wouldn't mind making a small contribution considering the time & effort that people put in behind the scenes to make this site what it is today.
