  1. Eh? Not quite sure what your saying there? I mean in relation to owning a BMW means "I v made it in life". Some of their models are pretty cheap & ordinary & on the used car market are even cheaper than ever. Where as to own a newish Porsche or Ferrari would make people in this day & age think " he must be doing well, probably a city boy or sumit" because they are still expensive cars overall. (apart from Boxster & Cayenne). I suppose I m refering to a different stigma than you who are talking about the @*!# BMW sales nobby driver who are ever present!
  2. Sorry to hear ur selling mate Sinbads links were very good, similar lines to what I was thinking. (I wouldnt bother with 944 as parts are not cheap). I would go towards JDM Subaru Legacy or Impreza. These guys import cars from Japan & some are quite cheap: http://www.autoadvan.co.uk/ & http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/180087.htm http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/340767.htm http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/315479.htm or Pimp it up http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/321521.htm or http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/332597.htm http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/333850.htm http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/258077.htm
  3. Bmw is not a badge like Ferrari or Lambo, it is a pretty normal car manufacturer like Audi / Nissan / etc. Many moons ago owning a BMW was like "WOW" you must be doing well " your a yuppie" or "your a show off wan%er" etc etc. It was in that era (80's) that the stigma around BMW stuck. It is not so now, many car manufacturers make models just like BMW's & BMW is now a mass producer of all types of models. IMO the BMW stigma is outdated & now rests with brands like Porsche/ Ferrari /Lambo/ etc.
  4. RWD vs FWD? M3 FWD tut tut Louis please ps nice mini meet yesterday mate

  7. Phil are the Falkens harder compound then the Toyos & PS2 & hence less comfortable/supple? I would not know as have tried Toyos & PS2 but not Falkens, I did once use VEntus Plus which was a spin off from Falken IIRC but they were budget tyres & very hard.
  8. Ok if not Bedford, anyone considered Donnington. I went there few months ago & loved the flowing circuit, they have unsilenced days called Trackzone Extra & more importantly have many sessioned days as well as open pit lane days. http://www.donington-park.co.uk/trakzone/ Come on chaps lets get this trackday happening!! Talking about bedford Im going a bit off it as theyr open lane track days seem to be getting a bit of a rep as a hooligan/chav driver days,( as u mentioned Steveb) a recent such day with 50 cars on at once seemed to indicate: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t=483652
  9. Lucky escape mate! If the place is near you, go back to see if diesel, it will out ur mind at rest & you know wether to trust tyres in wet or not
  10. Now this blue I like, especially with the darker blue hood to contrast, saw one near me last week....stunning
  11. Thanks Phil, got mine today, very quick service mate I fitted them in about 45mins, but then my mate realised the hatch was stickin up two inches....oopps, fitted the bracket on upside down! Anway all done now, I cant believe how powerful they are, I swear you could flip a pancake off the boot as it goes up!! (thats even after my big Impul wing is weighing it down) ps dont need to remove any plastic trim at all, just need a 12mm spanner & a 10mm ratchet jobbie. My ratchet set at last came in handy though went out today & bought a 13 piece spanner set for a tenner! No its not Snap On, probably Snap Off as its from Argos!!
  12. Sorry if repost, but worth seeing again anyway JTUNED.com presented Canadian resident Alex Yao's Nissan 350Z. At least it started out as a 35th anniversary Nissan 350Z, but now it's a "Nissan 420Z TT" after Alex had its way with it. The Nissan 420Z TT is equipped with a 4.24 liter VQ engine. This amazing engine puts out 760 hp and 713 ft-lb of torque at 18 psi. It has twin Garret turbos. Asked about how does it feel to drive such a monster Alex said: "It’s kind of like having a high maintenance girlfriend. It’s best not to **** her off." On the outside Alyssa, that's the Nissan's name, not the girlfriend's, has a few improvements: front lip, side skirts, hood, roof, both A and B pillars, rear hatch and rear underbody diffuser all made of fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). Technical Details: ENGINE: - GTM 4.24L Custom VQ Stroker Kit - Darton MID T-Sleeves - Custom 90.0mm Stroke Crankshaft - Arias / GTM Extreme Duty Pistons (8.5:1 Compression) - GTM Rods - Fully Balanced and Blueprinted - Custom GTM-Spec Cometic Head Gasket - GTM Stage 3 Heads - Ported and Polished Gallery: Nissan 420Z TT - JWT S7 Rev-Up Camshafts (262 deg. 13. Imo, if you want to improve handling you should get rid of Bridgestones as mentioned & look for stiffer/sportier suspension like Hotckiks or Tein etc., I think the car is quite stiff structurally already & wonder how much you would need the kit mentioned. As far as handling of the zed if you read EVO magazine which IMO is the best motoring publication in terms of genuine informed judgements on exactly how sports cars handle in minute depth. Then the 350z comes out on top above all others in the sub £30k category & in the top 5 many a year in the overall evo car of the year. This is looking at mainly only performance & handling. ps I pay no attention to Top Gear reviews or 5th gear for that matter, EVO magazine is the sports car bible
  14. are you mad ???? lolol ......yeah doesnt hold corners well while following a Caterham round a track!!
  15. Iv just ordered some from same co. but a different design which are smaller but IMO not as nice as the ones above They are flatter & go underneath the front bumper rather than come forward & outwards. They'r grade A carbon fibre, so should be good quality I hope. Its a bit of a gamble as may not fit properly or look right & may have to be returned. The seller emailed the diagram with exact dimensions, I then did a Tony Hart special & made a cut out from card, fits & looks good! Il have a go you never know.
  16. Only sound polloution exemption for cars on road are cottage industry type. e.g Tvr's etc But some tracks are quite fussy: Im now thinking of doing Donnington or Bedford.
  17. 0 offset isnt gona do the axle; suspension geometry & hence handling much good IMO?
  18. 10 inch width on front is too wide, unless roll arches & also wide body kit. 3 offset on fronts!!!
  19. I currently have a Fujitsubo exhasut which is similar to the Nismo (a little lower in tone & slightly less raspy & but slightly quiter than Nismo). This by itself wasnt too loud. But I also then added a JWT Popcharger which all together now make a bit of a racket! (if I put in Tesco 99 ron then its even bloody louder, better stick with Shell V power instead!!) My question is has anyone had the noise measured in decibels or knows what it might be. The reason being some tracks have quiet-road car noise days set at 98Db. They also have higher sound days at e.g 105 Db. I dont think my zed will be under 98db?? (On fujitsubo website noise with my exhasut is 94db & thats without the popcharger) ps member GrantW may know who I believe is a seasoned member of easy track
  20. Better still Il nick Zedrush's C west one! Cheers for advice Phil, didnt think theyd fit I need to stop being a tight arse & get my wallet out for a Cwest or Varis!!!
