  1. I'm up for it - I live in Staines and am willing to pass all the speed cameras on the M25 to get there However, I won't be able to do anything 'till July as I'm working stateside (Chicago) with my only trip back to Blighty for a road trip to Nurburgring! Count me in if there's one in July or after. CHeers!
  2. So is it true that lacquer only applies to metallics/pearlescent? If so, then why would the dealer-guy tell me about the lacquer (human error maybe ). If it isn't true that ONLY metallics/pearlescents use lacquer, then why does the halfords/nissan kuro kit come without (and recommends that ONLY metallics/pearls need it). I'm sure this is a n00b situation and it's all very simple really As for chips away, I did call them some time ago but I travel a lot and we kept missing. I will add them on my list of alternatives. Cheers m8 Steve
  3. Advice required from my learned Z-heads: Should I "touch up" my Kuro with the Halford's Nissan Kuro kit - grey primer, kuro paint - but NO LACQUER - I'm pretty sure I need lacquer right? I have a small multi-point (4) stone-stab mark in the middle of the door, and a blatent half-cm flake missing off the bonet. Let's not talk about the bumper. I took it to the "stealer" and he said I'd be better touching it up, because all he could do was a re-spray. Needless to say I was hoping for more love as I'm not a bodyshop person, I don't have the tools/skills, and I want someone professional to do it for me. I spoke with a good friend of mine who is _much_ more knowledgeable than me and he knows someone local who can do a respray for a few hundred. I'm thinking this is the best option, so I can then get the Armourfend (or similar) on top of a good job. But if I do that, then why not do the touch up anyway, as even if I balls it up it will get sorted with a spray. Back to the lacquer tho - in Halfords they only say to use it on metallic or pearlescent... I must confess that I'm now confuddled as to what the Kuro is. It certainly does look like it has lacquer on it (it's like glass after I've given it some good lovin' ). So: does the Kuro need the lacquer... and what do the experts think? Cheers in advance, Steve
  4. I spoke with the dealer and he said it was a "characteristic" of the Z. He said the new 06 does the same thing, as do most of the cars they get through. Not sure I like my super sexy Z sounding like a lardy rolling around and old sofa as I cruise down the high street I have isolated it down to moderate acceleration, then moderate braking / gear slowing
  5. Hmmm.... my local dealers seem to be pretty good. I'm in for a P1 in the next month or so, shall report back but I don't expect any issues - I see their mechanics face to face, and know them by name
  6. 0-60 is easy 6s, 0-100 also inline with published times. This car rocks!
  7. I noticed that dropping from 3rd / 2nd a high-noted creak / rattle (imagine a fork being pressed at high tension down a metal ribbed device). Then I noticed that setting off "sharpish" did the same. Now I'm hearing it with what seems to be slowing down / speeding up applied to the gearbox (not in very quiet, slow, passive-type driving). I hear this at low speeds with the window open, but god knows what sound it makes at high speed! Anybody else noticed this? Mine has just over 8k miles on it... brand new
  8. Hmm - has no one else rev limited and had the revs drop back to 4k straight away?
  9. I have a Kuro, so it's got to be the paint. After 8k miles and despite Supaguard, I have two chips (new one bonnet..grr... and on drivers door) and even insects seem to damage it. Mind you, after a couple of goes with the Supaguard Paintseal cream it's looking better. Once I get the chips sorted, I'll be getting that film cover stuck on the bumper, then Zymol the rest. From a distance it looks fantastic and people always drool as I go past
  10. Is it the ECU that cuts the revs down to 4k when you hit the red top line? I've had that twice now! 145 is my top (I love the m6 toll road)
  11. Can I have a gallon to redo my Kuro - its drivin me nuts with the scratches and chips. But it does look sexy when waxed!
  12. So who could fit the kits... I fancy one but I have no facilities (including skill/ability) to do it myself.
  13. I wonder how much it costs to get my 55 resprayed with the new black. The current one is driving me insane - chip on door, now on bonnet, with squirls - despite waxing it more than my girl does her... legs.
  14. New guy started in our office this week with his 04 blade so we park next to each other in the car park and compare penis's. Makes a change from all the beemers in the car park...
  15. I also have that problem... people can't hear me... must be a mike option somewhere...
  16. YO! I'm in Staines (massive!) and would love to bring my Kuro to meet its buddies. I will go anywhere in my baby June 7 is fine by me
  17. I splashed out on a TomTom 700 at the weekend - integrates with my phone nicely! And fits in the cubby hole. Nice!
  18. Ah, the stickers... I was told they didn't work with Xenons... I will check them out (Halfords?). Cheers
  19. If you're planning a meet in the NW, count me in... although I'm in Staines, dahn sahth, I have lots of family up there so I could kill two birds and all that.
  20. How do I modify the Z headlamps for European fast lane shinnannygins? I.e. how do I make them point to the right instead of the left. I seem to have mislaid my manual (I wonder if my ex threw it out...)
  21. I just gave my beauty a good buffing... but I'm all disappointed because her front bumper is looking a bit haggard after 6k miles What are the chances of getting the front bumper paintwork sorted - from a distance (few feet) it looks as gorgeous as ever but up close and personal it's a different story. I'm talking about my Z here, of course
  22. Sounds like great fun, WoREod - how was the car afterwards? Which parts of the car took the most hammering - tyres, brakes etc. Or is the car even better after it has been let of leash!
