  1. Just got back from my day at Silverstone and all I can say is WOW A fantastic day with great hospitality. * 11 laps in the GT-R accompanied by an instructor (5 normal mode and 6 race mode) * Timed auto test course in the GT-R * Figure of 8 drift course in the 370 (poor tortured cars!) * 5 laps in the 370z accompanied by an instructor * 1 lap passenger in a race-spec 350z with their academy driver All of this counted towards a final assessment score with the top 3 going forward to a final in November. Best of all was onboard video footage of all laps with telemetry and audio given to us on a USB stick. Even got breakfast, lunch and a goodie bag with 10x8 photos and a jacket. Managed to come 7th out of 40 overall so not bad really. Worst thing now is that I want a GT-R BADLY. Still, 370 arrives on Saturday so not all bad.
  2. Well blow me down! 4-1/2 years of 350Z/370Z ownership and ~£90k of spend with Nissan and I finally get a decent freebie. Anybody else going to Silverstone on Friday 18 Sept AM session? https://bookings.nissanraceacademy.co.uk/ss0902/booktype1/CodeCheck.asp
  3. Welcome Three words - click (rear axle), rattle (every piece of interior trim), beep (your PIN being typed in at the petrol station)
  4. ...I wouldn't fancy picking that one up as a low mileage demo As mentioned before on here, 350 definitely sounds better - blame the EU/US lawmakers I guess?? Hasn't made me cancel my order though - can't wait for 4th October.
  5. ...and it looks like this (low res pic, sorry!)
  6. ...I have a very nice Temper Orange for sale if you are interested
  7. It is a bit of strange colour - a real marmite one. Not as vivid as the Focus ST, but in direct sunlight and with plenty of dodo juice If anybody wants to make me an offer here are the details: Registered 01.09.07; 28000 miles; just had its 27000 service; 4 new RE050s at 25000 miles; GT pack with parking sensors; great condition all round.
  8. Ha - just don't tell her! Just the standard 19s on the GT pack --- don't like the Nismo's tbh --- not looking forward to replacing the 275s on the back
  9. Yep, after swearing blind that I wouldn't get another Nissan Z-car I went and put my deposit down on a 370Z GT Stayed away from the Ultimate spec as I had orange leather on my '55-plate 350Z and it marked like crazy so just stayed with the GT plus Sat Nav. Another first for me is that I've gone for the auto box. Yeah, I know - auto box + sports car = but having driven both the manual and the 7-speed auto with the paddles I fancied a change. Titanium Grey and due end Sept/early Oct and can't wait. ps. Was soooo tempted by the GT-R, but having spoken to West Way Nissan about servicing costs, etc. it just didn't make sense for my 15,000 miles pa. I could have picked up an '09 Black delivery mileage one from them for £57,400 --- seems that loads of people have either bailed on their deposits or are taking a quick profit over their '08 launch price. Roll on September
  10. Mine does this all the time and as it is outside the door seal is nothing to worry about --- apart from the wet shoes of course
  11. ...lol, I'm more of a dirty grey at the moment!
  12. Complain like crazy and insist on it getting sorted, but expect several trips to the paint shop before you are happy. Same happened with my TO 350Z. Don't worry, white will be so last season in another 12 months
  13. Standard Nissan then really. I went to look at a white GT-R last week and the match (or lack of it) between the rear quarter panel and bumper was terrible. I know that the materials are different, but why can other manufacturers make this work and Nissan can't. Bad enough on a £30k car but on a £60k one
  14. +1 on the customer service Porsche sent me a Cayman S track day invitation after just popping in to take a look at the new model! Nissan won't even give me the time of day despite buying 2 x £30k+ cars from them in under 4 years Several (waiting list??) GT-Rs in this week's Times motoring section at list price.
  15. I don't agree. I've never seen a Temper Orange on the road and when they are advertised they seem to be cheaper. IMHO this is because its a poo colour and very few people want it. Very rare but worth less rather than more. Its not as simple as saying that the rare colours command more. Its more specific to the blacks and probably the Azures. As for there being lots of silvers and greys, thats because they are more popular as colours - yes there are more second hand ones but there are also more potential buyers so it won't depress values as suggested. Harsh
  16. ...ever let your b*lls hang out, B-ry??? Fav episode - the one where Brian takes Meg to her prom, drinks way too much, pukes up and then says "are you going to eat that?" Just come back from a week snowboarding in Canada and totally overdosed on Family Guy
  17. Been posted several times, but still amazing. What happened with the 2 lorries at 1:00
  18. +1 but difficult to tell from these airbrushed pics. Will they have engineered out all of the rattles and squeaks though?? Don't really see the point in another new block for only +17 BHP unless the torque is even stronger. Yet more bad news for 350Z residuals, eh
  19. NUMBER 31 Here's mine... Nicer hi-res one available if I'm lucky
  20. Hee, hee, hee - about time my home town did something worthwhile. Now, where are my keys......
  21. Black Edition on a '55 vanity plate and looking . Still too early I guess for UK-spec so must be a private import. Sure takes something to outshine the other cars parked in that part of town, even the Murcielago in carbon with yellow interior on Saudi diplomatic plates looked just ok
  22. ...then get some dental floss and gradually work this between the adhesive pad and the bodywork
  23. D'oh - just read this second post This makes even less sense. I know the emissions are a big deal on strokers, but I guess I'll shut up until we see the rules.
  24. Can't say I'm surprised. Looks like Dani Pedrosa at < 50kgs is set for a lot of success They're looking in the wrong place if they're trying to reduce lap times. Look at Assen where the outright lap record fell yet again this year to an 800cc bike. Give it 2-3 years and they'll be looking for the next thing to change. IMHO MotoGP needs to stay distinct from road bikes as the ultimate in prototype bike racing. Rather than reducing CCs they should look at tyre widths, (further) fuel restrictions, higher min. weight, etc, etc.
  25. Not true actually. They count the number of panels with damage and grade them - you can't expect a 3 year old car to be immaculate. I had a nasty ding in the top of the bonnet from a lump of wood on the M4 and they didn't bat an eyelid. Bodyshop wanted £300 to repair as it was on the double-skinned bit Plus all of your expensive moding goodies would come off anyway and on to the new car or eBay
