    Cheers guys

The shift light kicks in a few hundred RPM before the point you set it at IIRC (either 300 or 500) so that when it starts you know you have a split second to change.
  2. I guarantee HMRC are used to people who can afford inflated goods prices in places like Switzerland bailing out while they continue to tax the masses at the level they do. It's sad, and it would be nice for some blame to be placed at their door.
  3. What you say is true about him needing the publicity for himself. But you come up with more than a handful of big earning celebs who spend enough time in the country to be paying our tax..... My point is around the rest of his life. That may well be his reason, and the tax elements are obvious. But if his reason is not wanting rumours splashed on the front covers everytime he goes out then that is entirely up to him. You say they'll follow, but there is a lot of expense to put a field of British hacks up in Switzerland on the off chance they get a photo. Would you stay in this country in his position?
  4. That decision has done the opposite in my estimations. To be able to stand back and make a decision not to have his life ruined by the press is a hard one, especially when it means leaving your home country. The second he gets a girlfriend, she'll be hounded. Everytime he goes out, there will be rumours about him being a bad boy etc. Fair play, get away from the hounds. And this year, his earnings are 'only' in the hundreds of thousands. The tax breaks won't kick in just yet.
  5. Tried a Travel tavern of some sort just outside? Might have to stay a little bit outside with the fight on.
  6. 100% Sarnie, especially if you're taking wet and dry to it. Please be careful! The link does show what can be done though.

Think your disregarding some very good advice there? Nobody mentioned sticking flash kit on it or running two cars did they? The advice was that if you want to transport a MTB even for only 3-4 days a month then the zed isn't best suited for it, illustrated by the lack of a solution. This issue has arisen before and the advice was the same. +1 - you asked for advice as to how practical and people have been honest.
  8. You've really gotta know what you're doing with that! Great result though.
  9. Those voting, could we hear reasons why for or against to see if we can get something arranged that gets everyone together?

  11. Donny Show is the biggest in the UK for modified and performance cars. For those that want to drive there's track time available, and the club could get a stand for the weekend. For details click the banner:
  12. I am happy to have a word with the organisers of the Donny show if there are numbers to create a stand.

Congrats! Questions - Is there a non-japanese language owners manual on here? - I think one of the JDM owners will confirm. Is the glovebox looking thing actually a glovebox or just an elaborate cup holding device? - it is a cup holder device made out of something resembling Lego. Are the UK Sat Nav cubby hole covers as rubbash as the jap ones?? Mine is reminiscent of the kind of thing you get inside a Kinder egg - not sure - Pics? Do they really do 180 when derestricted?? - About 176 IIRC. Does an Induction Kit make any notable difference? - First time down the road, yes. After that, noise wise, yes. Under the bonnet, yes. Power, not really. Where can I get a decat pipe and will it need a remap for one?? - PM Bigphil.
  14. Good point H5. For the members that have had a big trek for the Wales drives then usually they have stayed the night before at least to break it up. That could be an option obviously. You're right, it does depend on what we want it to be - poll???? Then lets keep the Wales drive outs for all the good reasons everyone enjoys them. I don't think this is meant to replace anything that is already done. Why not add a big collective at a static show and build up a reputation for the club?
  15. I think it depends on what we want it to be. If it is a drive out, then that is likely to be based on geography as to whether people can make it. I agree that static meets aren't as much fun as the driving ones. The thread is for the north to meet the south. That means some people driving 250 - 300 miles just to meet up. They may want to drive for another few hours, maybe not. I think one big annual meet, to show the club, cars and members would be good.
  16. Sounds like a pretty fair list of things. Most of us can relate to that lot!
  17. I'd suggest finding a bodykit, saving about £25k and then getting it fitted with a little twin turbo arrangement and Cosworth gear at TDi! Welcome to the site!
  18. Does the 'tri-spoke wheels are banned' (because they're always on Nova's) rule not apply to bikes?!
  19. Stick your ear next to one of the front speakers with ignition on, headunit off...... You have BOSE? If so, it's called floor noise and is due to the amp turning itself on whenever the ignition is on, even if the head unit isn't on. All of them do it, and it depends how good your hearing is as to whether you pick it up. It bugs the heck out of me but I want to have the install done properly so have an induction kit to keep me smiling! I think this is something to do with the hands free car kit isn't it? That's why the amp is always powered up. The hissing is just white noise generated by the amp. Not sure if there's anything that can be done to solve it, apart from playing a CD that is... May well be, but either way it is always on. Highlights two things - poor quality amp and poor quality grounding..... It is still there when playing the CD, it just gets interrupted by the music.
  20. Could be pretty difficult to manage many more than the Wales run in a convoy? Any large groups of cars would be split into smaller convoys with staggered times. For example 30 zeds would be split into 3 lots of 10. Yesterday we had 11 and that was great. Agreed. I was more thinking that if we need to allow people from the far north and south then a static meet would give a much bigger window of opportunity. Am happy to go with the consensus, but given Wales isn't too far off centre and there were 11 attendees...... Just a thought.

  22. Based on those pics, it looks like the 6 spoke Rays are the new exclusive wheel to have on your UK Zed!!
  23. 4 times a year? They're not doing it properly!! This yours? http://www.wax-it.be/gallery/Wax-it061008
