A fantastic effort by Martin once again and I'm sure it will be great calendar. I would have preferred to have seen less of Adam's work in there (sorry, no offence mate ) but I was also happy to let the members decide. That is what has happened, end of. The fact that some members are disgruntled is regrettable but it doesn't stop the process being a fair, legitimate and most of all a democratic one. Now what about that fat bird that got voted off X-Factor.....

Wot he said Are you looking for a hatch or bigger? I'd say S4 all the way (but be prepared to change the chrome mirrors), or maybe an E39 535/540i if you want some oversteer. No one does understated like Audi. S3, R32 or your suggested Clio's for hatches, although the MkV GTi may be more understated. It looks poverty spec almost from oustide. The fact that its a local car is appreciated too.

Just to go against the crowd, I've had these and although undoubtedly better than the regular blades I was less than conviced that they justified the additional outlay. IMHO of course. And before anyone suggests it, I did follow the correct procedure when fitting!

I'm talking about a new Mk5 R32 which I can lease cheaply. The Mk4 was very obviously a hot hatch but the 5 just seems to have the chrome grille (like a Jetta) and the twin exhausts to make it stand out. A secondhand ST170's probably worth a look.

A car which doesn't give too many clues externally to the fact that its fast as f@ck. The old Senators which were mentioned above are a good example. Or a debadged BMW 540i. Or a Mazda 3 MPS. Looked at another way, my missus would say an R32 was just another Golf but a Civic Type R is obviously a hot hatch even to her untrained eye.

This is a good call but the 4th gen Golf's don't really handle I believe and most seem to come with some of the worst wood inserts on the dash that I've seen for a while. I fancy an R32 as they're going for a song now, are almost as fast as the Zed and have a classy, low key image without being a default Bee Emm/Audi/Merc. But may still be a bit ostentatious for our street and insurance is pretty heavy.

Don't like the DC2s or last gen Civics - but love DC5s and current gen Civics! Hey, that's just me. Thought about a 182 but would prefer a 197 (with Cup chassis in white). A mate has the Skoda and its great but Mrs Digsy won't get over the badge.

OK, one of my possible scenarios is to run a sleeper for a little while. The problem I have is that the Liverpool suburbs are not a great place to leave a fancy motor on the street. I used to keep the Zed in the yard but it took up about half of my outdoor space and when the dog came I had to have a rethink. Sticking it in a garage a few miles away was OK but I couldn't "pop out for a drive" when the mood took me like I could before and the Zed just sat there for weeks on end. So, Im thinking what could I run and leave on the street which to the casual observer is nothing special (and therefore shouldn't attract scroats or nutjobs with baseball bats who knock down the front door in the night) but would still be a bit of fun to drive. A Q-car I suppose. It would have to be under 10k secondhand or new so that I could lease it. Any ideas?
