  1. i had a car on sorn for a while, the major area to check is the brakes. amke sure the calipers haven't seized, engine wise it should be fine, as soon as you start it up ity will re oil all the parts. and all the moving bits that need oil are already dat in it. so there wont be any unlubed metal on metal action.
  2. same here used to have a blue 02 reg mr2 roadster, did you ever go on to www.mr2roc.org ? i was a frequent memeber on there as was ekona. great cars, far more driver focussed than the mx5, excellent fun, and had enough poke to be fun in traffic light grandprixs
  3. i was contemplating it for the rear of mine, i thought it was quite suttle. and meant i didn't have to specially align and drill 4 holes in my rear bumper.
  4. In which case for heaven's sake man up and take it on the chin.. +1 +2 +3 if its a fair and square catch you have to hold your hands up and pay. if they clamped you illegally, hire a petrol powered angle grinder and remove it yourself.
  5. money no object, i believe the michilin pilot sports are what people would get, but it will set you back £1000 for all 4 corners. i'm going to try out the vredestein ssantas when mine wear out. thats not too bad a price, i was just quoting what my mate had told me, he had spent the better half of nearly a grand on tires, including fitting balancing and laser alignment. You can get a set of MPS for a lot less than that if you shop around. I paid £680 for my last set.
  6. Most supermarkets are cutting back on staff atm aswell mate, you be lucky to be able to pick up a job there even now! i must admit i do feel fairly safe in the teaching profession. not the greatest pay in the world, but it is a guaranteed job and pension.
  7. I have my pioneer F500 bt to fit in the cubby, it is not much different to an LCD touch screen in size and thickness etc. i will put up dimensions later, but its 3 in the morning and the car is in the garage. i have been having a look at the cubby, i haven't taken it out yet, but my original plan was to remove the box section, leave the lid attatched and make a new thinner box to mount the unit it. but on closer inspection it looks like the lid is attatched to the box, so removing the box would loose the lid. ( its an 2006 prefacelift with the non retractable lid (just goes up and down)) can anyone who has dismantled their dash confirm this for me. secondly, if this is correct, how have other people mounted screens in the cubby. is there a facia adapter to fit in the cubby to make the fitting more flush. any ideas would be greatly appreciated, i want to make it look as OEM as possible, especially if i'm not going to be able to keep the lid to hide the unit behind.
  8. saw this when in halfrauds earlier, seemed quiet interesting. mounting the sensors in the number plate i quite fancy some rear parking sensors, but hate the look of car acne, but this is alot more descreet, i can't see any reason it not working on the front with a little modification http://www.abacuscaralarms.co.uk/alarms ... ensors.htm
  9. i'm with admiral and had the same problem, came for renewal and had just gained my first NCB and it had gone up. went on confused re did all the details got a cheaper quote form elephant than last years. rang admiral told them of the quote from elelphant. apparently its there sister company and they matched it. original insurance £500 renewal £650 new quote £410 admittedly i did find that my insurance plummeted once i got married and put my wife on the insurance. because when i swapped from the civic to the Zed with 9 months left on the insurance they only charged me an extra £160 i'm on the 10 month multipliers, and am the same age as you with the same NCB, am now building towards NCB 2. things can only get cheaper.
  10. i got caught the same way in anglesey about 4 years ago. just worked mine off, only affected my insurance by about £10. i even got told not to do over 80 as they have lots of unkmarked. and like you i even spotted it, but took to long to make the decission to slow down as i wasn't sure. the following 6 hour drive home i was kicking myself all the way.
  11. my renewal came in last year at £600 did waht you did, went on line and used confused like i did the first time, got it for £440 and it was from the same company. i always browse for insureance when close to renewal to make sure i get the best price. i'm currently using 10 month multipliers to get my NCB back asap. but admiral have been very good.
  12. thought as much, if it was seen as an absolute must then i might have, but as i have no plans t ogo FI, it will go on the back buner for one of those months when i have lots of spare cash... so some time in 2020.
  13. if in say a few years time you were to take off the plenum cover and have a clean up inside, would that have the same effect, or doe sthis can also stop stuff clogging pipes etc. i may well get one at some point but only really likely to spend no more than £50 as it does seem a little expensive for a can

  21. It's good for you to have a dream, something to work to. Just a shame you'll never achieve it. MacDonalds is the place for you, see if you can get 5 gold stars. Hey, my first job was at maccy'd's 2.88 an hour. worked there for 18 months while at college and i got all my 5 stars, admittedly i earned 2 and "found" the other 3
  22. tuition - means you actually learn something like these following lessons: Guide to fitting in: step 1 - knowing when to quit (in your case on the first post. step 2 - try not to use phrases that will irrate others e.g. focus, race, or words that have been spelt wrong cos it looks cool! (to give you a visual representation think die hard 3 when john maclane has to where a sign on his back in a black neighbourhood. step 3 - think about the car you drive, and then think of the appropriate forum to post on, ( you will most likely find lots of like minded people on maxpower.com, corsa.net, focus.com, ghettoracer.co.uk etc. step 4 - refer back to step 1
