rtbiscuit replied to Adrian@TORQEN's topic in Off Topic Discussion
i saw an article or report on TV a while back that had said it had gone out of fashion, but that it was on the increase with younger people. -

Insurer confusion over drink driving
rtbiscuit replied to Adrian@TORQEN's topic in Off Topic Discussion
with some generations it does have that level of a social faux pa, but i've heard the younger generation coming up behind me its on the increase. sort of between 18-25 i'm only 30 but most of the people my age up to say about 45 don't really see it as the done thing. i think upwards of that might be used to the older views where it was seen as more of the norm. -
Sorry i wasn't trying to be awkward, when i relate to the models of the 350z refer to PS - so i guess the models would be, 276, 297 then 308 bhp?? But I do think around a track the HR would do a lot better, revised suspension and engine goes a long way. obviously that gap would be closed with an uprev, ARBs, chassis stiffening, shocks etc And i completely agree, anything upwards of at least 30bhp is noticeable. And the early DE dispstick is the WORST in the world... well its not worse than having no dipstick *BMW ahem*! - STOOOOPID! agreed it all makes a difference but its also heavier, i think the documented 0-60 times are only about 0.2-0.4 different i think the 309 would cross the line first, half a car behind it would be the 298, and half a car behind that the 276. i don't think that we're looking at 100-200 yards difference. 309 is it a better car... does it have better interior...yes is it worth the difference in price.... yes would it give the 276 an arse wooping... no

Insurer confusion over drink driving

i think thats bang out of order the way they can do that. Agree! There are stated cases where being asleep in a car, in the drivers seat with the engine running to stay warm = no conviction. I'd argue that, whilst asleep, he could hardly be in charge of propulsion and steering. Must have had a crap lawyer. my old pub land lord used to let people sleep in their cars in the car park, but the condition was that the keys were left behind the bar. Landlord told us we could still be prosecuted for drink driving, even if in the passenger seat. but if the keys weren't in the car we were fine. did it a couple of times, but i drank there so much i ended up with my own room -
ah you work in PS, it gets confusing on here sometimes, many quote PS as the BHP on here. i've always worked in BHP, throwing in PS just gets confusing as for the car it did have alot of improvements, engine suspension etc, it is the better car, but it isn't miles faster. you need alot bigger BHP difference to see a wooping.
-
sorry but it won;t and its a 309 not a 313
-
umm not +300bhp its 276 if your lucky with all the extra gubins and a remap then yes should make about 300 bhp
-
that makes so much sense, it helps alot to see it like that. i don't disagree at all

personally if you want a safer environment with tutition to learn about your car and have fun, go book yourself on something like a CAT driver training day. they set up little track layouts, and its only 1 car at a time out, and the only thing to hit on the airfield is cones. lots of run off and a good fun day. taster days are about £40 but you don't get much tutition, full CAT days are about £130 i think but you get someone in your car with you to give you pointers etc. I've done the taster days as i like a hoon, and did things like high speed corners and short sprint courses as well as a full track layout. its safe its fun and a great taste of fast driving and a good stepping stone into track days -

by the looks of that one the day would include a drivers briefing first and then you have slots in which you can go out on the track. each one is 20 min, you can stay out the whole time or come back in to the pits anytime you like and go back out. its not a race, so although everyone is going fast you can go at your own pace, learn the track and the feel of the car. if your a novice and would like some tuition, there should be someone available, but best to contact them first to let them know, and then you can pay by the session to have a driver with you. club organised ones are often the best as people tend to be more respectful of each other on the track etc and you get less numpties. MSV tend to be pretty good and their mashalls don;t tend to take much rubbish from people. -
i know what you mean, jaguar say only to use castrol (in the old jags its magnatec) Edge in their new cars. i'd like to go back to royal purple, but i don't know if it meets the required ACEA numbers for my car. where as the mobil 1 does, millers crops up a fair bit as well. i use their brake fluid, but not tried their oils.
-
I thought mobil 1 still fell in to the group IV as a PAO I keep looking at things like Amsoil it seems to get very good rep but its soooooooooooooooooooo expensive, and when you need 8 litres for an oil change you have to draw a balance between quality and cost. i would say that mobil 1 is a step up from castrol magnatec, but there are still better oils out there to try. I noticed a change in MPG when i swapped to magnatec, it did drop by about 2mpg, i'm interested to see how this mobil 1 esp fairs. i too have heard that mobil changed their base stock, but that it was still better than other oils out there.

i think aircraft carrier is quiet apt, i'm the same length as a big estate car, and wider than most cars. it does feel like a 5 min walk from one end to the other. the body kit gets rid of the roundness from underneath the car which empersised the gap to the floor. with more square edges and nose it widens the car up and lowers in visually. at the moment its only going to be the rear bumper as its going to be part of the rust cure measure
-
with an uprev if your starting point was 250 it would only just be bringing you back up to about 276. but as you said it would be giving you the best version of that car.

the colour is called anthracite pearl, i thought it was black when i bought it, but after a good machine polish found that colour underneath. as for the exhaust not seen that one before, but there are some good options out there.

+1 Very true, I test drove a couple and it almost put me off! I got a good one but when I had syncro issues and clutch went it drove like a pig  it was found a while back especially with the early ones that they were way off their advertised 276, some were as low as 250 or 240 bhp.
